We suggest that the chimney be swept after every cord of wood (Generally once per season unless the chimney is used quiet frequently) Chimneys need to be cleaned because of creosote which is formed as a result of cresols and phenol compounds which are released when wood is burned. Creosote condenses on chimney walls and builds over time. This compound is flamable and it becomes more dangerous as it builds up over time. Chimney fires can be relatively harmless if there is very little creosote build up but if there is a significate amount of creosote residue it can be very difficult to put out which is why many chimney fires just have to burn out. This is a very helpless feeling watching a chimney fire which can crack or damage the interior liner resulting in a house fire. This is easliy averted with annual cleanings..

Great company! Got 3 different quotes for a liner job and a-Tecs was the most fair, the guys showed up exactly as scheduled, cleaned up after themselves (spotless!) and completely explained what they would be doing! Ended up being more work than planned and they didn't charge me a cent over the original quote! The employee who schedules jobs and does customer service couldn't have been more helpful and professional and Dave and his crew will definitely be the only people i let near my chimney in the future! Can't say enough good things about my expierence I would give 10 stars if I could

Several years ago I needed to have a dead bird removed from the chimney. As a result of that (neat and efficient job) I learned that the inside of the chimney was deteriorating, and a liner would solve the problems. Dave patiently showed me the 'inside' of the odd, angled chimney, and explained what was needed to make it safe and structurally sound. Then they did the job for a fair price (I had other estimates who said it couldn't be done, and/or quoted higher prices). A few weeks ago, in a different house, we had a squirrel come down the chimney, so I called ATec again, knowing they were reliable and fair. Dave and his partner did a safety inspection and installed a high quality cap which can be operated from the fireplace, will prevent other critters from coming in, and prevent heat loss. Only wish I had thought to ask them to get the squirrel out, but hadn't checked the website, because I had their number in my phone.

Dave and his team did a fantastic job correcting issues with our chimney. They did an excellent job identifying and explaining the problems. They arrived on the scheduled day to fix the problems which they did quickly and efficiently. All issues were corrected at a very competitive price. Everything was left totally clean as if they hadn't even been here. We are very satisfied with their service and strongly recommend them.

Terrible company to work with. Asked for inspection, told to completely demolish the fireplace and start over. Got an $18k non itemized quote on the spot to replace the fireplace. Had three inspections since, all three said it can be repaired. Quotes coming in around $3k. Looks like they’re just trying to sell rebuild jobs

This is a pretty disingenuous review. You called us to do a safety inspection which found that the chimneys foundation was completely split in the basement from the floor all the way to your ceiling and was being hidden with a large sheet of plastic to cover it up. Entire wooden forms were left inside the chimney and built directly underneath and into the fireplace's hearth by the original mason creating a fire hazard. Not only that but both sides of your fireplaces brick facade were split wide open and pulling away from the fireplace due to the sinking chimney foundation which was opening up cavity exposing it your combustible wooden wall. Additionally the top of your chimney from the roofline up was in poor shape with the mortar crumbling and the top courses entirely dry set. You wanted us not only to entirely pull out and remove the existing fireplace heatilator but to rebuild a new and larger masonry fireplace which would need much larger flues to support it it’s increased size. With all of this together you were told that to do it properly it would make far more sense to pull it down and rebuild the foundation or any work we would do would be undone by an unstable foundation that is currently split in two. I don’t know what type of quotes you are getting for $3,000 but they are likely overlooking the entire structural aspect of the chimney. You called us for an inspection, and were shown what was wrong. If you don’t like the quote or do not want that amount of work to be done then that’s fine as it is your choice as a home owner but to create a review that disparages us for pointing out these Major structural and fire safety issues in your chimney is nonsense. There is no repair for $3,000 that can address what was happening, just patch work cover ups or entirely ignoring the major issues that other companies are apparently willing to over look to take work in place of liability. We plan to still be in business ten years from now and do our work by the book.

Dave and his crew just rebuilt our chimney. It ended up needing more work than anticipated. They went above and beyond and did what it needed without changing the quoted price. They were very professional, efficient and clean. Highly recommend!

This was the only company on t...

This was the only company on this list that even bothered answering their phone. I called 4 others and they all went to voice mail. They called me the day of our scheduled apointment to let us know they were running about 30 minutes behind schedule. Two guys arrived and were both polite and well spoken. Durring the cleaning they found two squirrel skeletons in our fireplace chimney so we had them install a cap on top. I forget the names of the two men who came out but they definately knew their stuff and didn't have any problem educating me on the basics.

Had these guys come over to pr...

They came over to price out a pretty extensive repair last month. Out of the 4 companies that came out to give us quotes these were the only ones to actually go up on the chimney (I have a very tall chimney). They were the second cheapest of the four but the other estimators all felt like shysters in comparison so we ended up chosing Atec to get the work done.

Anyways, they just finished tearing down and rebuilding our chimney and it looks fantastic. I was a bit scared at first since we have an enormous 45 foot chimney but they made it look easy tearing it down and building it back up.

I would certainly recommend them to anyone I know who needs chimney work done. They did a great job, they even did a little more then was originally quoted without charging us any extra. Also left our yard clean raking up debris before they left and only a few divots remain from where their tower was standing but that's understandable.

GREAT JOB GUYS!

Just had Steven out to give us...

Just had Steven out to give us an estimate as we were needing to compare quotes for work recommended by another company that we had give us an inspection last year. This was our third quote as the first company quoted $5,950.00 in repairs and the second quoted $5,000 even. Steven went over the entire chimney with us in detail and let us know that the vast majority of these repairs were not needed. Our clay liner had no cracks as we were previously told and the chimney did not need to be rebuilt. They only recommended getting a new cement crown and installing cap. In all the repairs that we were expecting to be in the thousands were only a few hundred. Thanks for being honest with us, something I certainly can't say about the other two companies we contacted.

Had these guys come out after ...

Had these guys come out after another company told me I needed some pretty expensive repairs. They were honest and let me know what really needed to be done vs what didn't. The company prior to them wrote me a quote for nearly $8,000 in work and they identified only $500 worth of work that actually even needed to be done. I'd recommend using these guys you want someone who isn't looking to rip you off the moment they enter the door.

A-tec Chimney Sweep did a wonderful job tearing down my chimney and fireplace and rebuilding from the ground up. They were professional, clean, informative and truly went above and beyond. Jonathan and Dave were easy to contact and work things out with. I would recommend this company for anything that had to do with a chimney.

They were very good in diagnosing and repairing the problem -- I'll call them again if I should have chimney issues in the future.

Very Satisfied with mason work

Very Satisfied It's nice to work with the owner and proprietor directly on a job like this where the gap of my knowledge to chimney expertise is vast. David was out on a Monday and by Thursday he already had a mason crew on site and a chimney rebuilt. There were many expensive options on the table but Randall was very helpful in directing me how to do some work to significantly cut my costs down. Highly recommended for chimney maintenance and repair.

Highly recommended.

Wow! These guys were available to do the job the same day we called. They arrived promptly and completed the job despite some rainy weather and even left the house spotless (had cleaning and inspection done). Took the time to explain what was going to be done before it was done. Very respectful, professional, and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
