Established in 1977, Smithsburg Middle School serves more than 600 students in grades six through eight. Its athletic programs include basketball, volleyball, and track and field. The school s educational curriculum includes numerous subjects, such as math, language arts, social studies and science. Smithsburg Middle School additionally offers various elective programs in computer applications, chorus, band and art. The academic institute provides administration, counseling, food, nursing and technological services. The middle school has a parent-teacher-student association that coordinates fundraising events and special programs, compiles and coordinates copying and distribution of school newsletter and organizes award assemblies.
