Provided by YP.comWe (my mom, sister, and I) are so grateful to have found Barbara and Superior Dog Academy! It was a serious situation. My mom's 7 yr old Cairn terrier bit her quite hard on the arm. It was awful...we were so shocked that Gigi could ever do such a thing to my mom because Gigi has totally been living the 'good life'. We didn't know what to do....on the one hand...a bite is a very serious incident...will she do it again? On the other hand...the dog is an excellent companion for my mom and we all love the dog very much.
So we checked into 3 different trainers and decided to go with Superior's approach. I am so glad we did!! Barbara's knowledge of canine behavior is quite impressive; she explains why dogs do what they do. This insight really helped us to understand how we were (sometimes unknowingly) sending Gigi the wrong message and allowing her to think that she was in charge. Barbara spent about 2 hrs with us in that first session. We talked about the various problem behaviors; Barbara explained the dynamics and gave us instructions and exercises on how to begin to correct the behavior. The situation became positive after just that first session! Also, what is great about Superior's approach is that it allowed time in between the training sessions for us to work with the dog. We kept a list of additional questions and issues that came up in our training exercises to bring up in our next session with Barbara. Barbara's method recognizes that behavior modification happens over time...and that time is built into the program to provide you with the support and guidance you will need. I highly recommend Barbara and Superior Dog Academy!

Provided by YP.comI am writing this as a first time dog owner. I had never had any pet actually before my chocolate lab Cocoa. I called Barbara distressed with my ever growing six month old puppy that I could not handle. After just a few sessions, Cocoa showed great improvement in basic obedience techniques. Every session I could see her growth and she it was amazing to watch! I learned that the sessions were not only helpful for Cocoa but for me too! I do believe that the training is not just for the dog but for the owners as well! Although Cocoa is still young and training will be an ongoing process for her, the skills she's learned from Barbara will be the foundation for her behavior in the future. I highly recommend Superior Dog Academy to anyone looking for training in the Somerset area.

Provided by YP.comI had a four month old puppy that was going to grow into a very LARGE dog. I knew I would need to get some help with
training for her. I called Barbara and was so surprised to see what she had taught my "little"puppy at the first session. I
knew I would need to have a well trained dog that had to listen, because of her anticipated size, as well as wanting to have her be able to go everywhere with me. After our first session my little girl would come when called and sit. I was
so pleased. My puppy is now just 10 months old and due to her fine training I am able to take her with me, even to work.
She will sit by my desk and stay as told. It is so wonderful. I am able to go for walks with my favorite friend and she
will not pull on the leash nor will she pick up anything from the sidewalk/street. When the doorbell rings I merely tell her
to "settle" and she will go to her bed and sit down until told o.k. I had taken her to Petsmart last weekend, it was adopt
a pet day" so there were many dogs and cats all over. My Abby walked into the store like the little lady she is and did
not bother any of the other animals. I decided to challenge her and took her over to the toy section, told her to sit and
stay. She did this beautifully and sat there until told o.k. We where on line waiting o be checked out when another
person came behind us with two dogs, one 4 years old and the second 1 year old. The person hold her dogs to sit
and they did everything but...I told Abby to sit and stay and she did until she was released from the command. I was
so very proud of her 10 months old and doing better than the other older dogs. I am very pleased with the training
Abby received from Barbara, and due to that I am able to take her everywhere and she is accepted fondly I firmly
believe it is all due to the fact that she is well trained and a perfect little lady.
I would recommend Superior Academy to anyone and am looking forward to continuing Abby's training in the very
near future.

Provided by YP.comThe trainer for the comapny is a very nice lady! she has lots of experience, i do believe she went to school for training. She meets your needs and does what YOU want with your dog. She like to have the pet owner involved, as we are the ones who will be enforcing the behaviors. I would strongly reaommend her to anyone with any sort of dog need. not only that but her dogs are fun to watch, one of them does circus stunts!
