About Adam Snoap, M.D.  A career in medicine became the career path for Adam Snoap, M.D., early on in college. “Science had always been my favorite subject, and I was between physical therapy and medical school,” he says. “The personalities in otolaryngology are what mainly drew me to the specialty. The physicians are happy, patient and kind.”  While specializing in Otolaryngology (ear, nose, and throat) was not his initial plan, one lecture in medical school made him look into it. He deals with medical and surgical problems from the head and neck, ranging from placing children’s ear tubes to removing neck masses.  Dr. Snoap earned his MD at IU School of Medicine, completed an Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery residency at the University of Florida, and fellowship trained in Pediatric Otolaryngology from the Medical University of South Carolina.  His philosophy in practicing medicine is to empower patients. He wants them to understand why the problem is occurring and then have a discussion with them to tailor a treatment plan to best suit their life. With children, he understands that going to the doctor can be scary, so he works to engage with them, asking them about themselves to make them as comfortable as possible.  Patients have taught Dr. Snoap about resilience. “I have seen so many people struggle through and overcome very difficult situations, and still come out the other side with a positive attitude.”  In his own words…  Who is or was the most influential people/role models in your life?   My father was my greatest role model growing up.  What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it?   A tennis instructor for children.  I remember loving working with children and how so many of them did not care about keeping the ball in the court. They were more concerned with hitting it as far over the fence as possible!   What is your favorite food? Movie?    Favorite food: Pad Thai     Favorite movies: The Mission Impossible series, The Prestige, and Warrior come to mind  What was your best/worst subjects in school growing up?   Best classes were science or Spanish.  Worst subject was probably writing.  If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased) who would it be and why?   Probably Neil Armstrong. It would be fascinating to hear first-hand from someone what it was like to walk on the moon and who has experienced space.  In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about?   I love spending time with my wife, dog, and cat. We enjoy exploring new towns and going for walks/hikes.   What are your hobbies, interests?   I enjoy any sport with a racquet, I play tennis regularly and hope to learn pickleball at some point! Also, I enjoy film editing, and recently have worked on some surgical instruction videos for trainees.  What is something most people don’t know about you?   I do not have a middle name and I speak Spanish.
