I live in L.A. and had a seamstress with high ratings on Yelp do "alterations" on my BM dress. When I put it on, she said I didn't need to have the bust taken in or hemmed since it hit the floor. She charged me $35 for sewing on a rhinestone appliqué belt and said everything else would be fine. I don't like to argue since I figure they are experts, but, when I got the dress back the top still seemed wiggly (not loose but not snug).

I came back to Pgh. Monday for the week of my sister's wedding and wanted a second opinion on "alterations". I went to Kye's alterations in Mt. Lebo on Tuesday to see if anything else could be done. After trying on the dress, Kye said the bust did need taken in and hemmed. After pinning everything in, it felt much more comfortable and I wasn't worried about the top or tripping on my dress. With rush alterations (taking in bust, hem, sewing in cups in 2 days), the cost was $85. I feel like her eye expertise and quick adjustments were well worth the price.
