Tahoe Turning Point is a private, nonprofit agency that provides group care and residential treatment for male juveniles between the ages of 12 and 18. The agency is licensed by the California Department of Social Services. It is also licensed by the California Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs as a licensed residential recovery program. Tahoe Turning Point receives members from various sources, including probation departments in northern California, social service and foster care agencies, and school districts and special education programs. The center provides public and home study school programs and an active recreational program. Its extracurricular activities include rock climbing, backpacking, water sports, skiing and snowboarding. Founded in 1980, Tahoe Turning Point is located in South Lake Tahoe, Calif.
