AWFUL. Same problems as other reviewers described, as well as being asked by a filthy redneck on an A.T.V. to pay closing cost in "cash only". Had my mother known how much this place would degrade since this mans son took it over she would never have bought plots here.

Highland Memorial Gardens shou...

Highland Memorial Gardens should be ashamed to call themselves a memorial garden.

My mother in law passed Wed. April 4th early morning, and we wanted to have her services that week but were told we couldn't because we didn't give a 72 hour notice. Please tell me who here on earth can tell a cemetery that they are going to be dying in 72 hours? I thought maybe it was because of Easter weekend, but that is apparently their policy.

It took us a week to bury Nani, and it was more devastating and stressful for myself , family and friends to HAVE to wait this long. Tues. Apr. 10th was Nani's day and we couldn't join the family to go to the grave site because we weren't allowed to walk on the grass. If this is true how are we to pay our respects and visit her grave?

Highlawn Memorial Gardens shows no respect, no loyatly and is a bad business. I have to agree with my neice when she told everyone the day of the funeral she DOESN'T want to be buried there.

Please don't put your family through what we experienced and consider another place to go.

Grievers Beware

My husband's father passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday July 28, 2009. He was diagnosed with lung cancer and within a week passed. We were distraught. We knew he had purchased 2 plots at Highland several years ago in an effort to make this time less trying on his family. When we called on Wednesday July 29th to arrange for burial on Friday July 31st we were told they "had" to have 72 hours notice and could not do it on Friday the 31st. We offered to pay more. Still no. We were told they would be able to accomadate Sat at noon for the burial. We proceeded with the arrangements only to get a call saying they could not let us bury him on Saturday and they didn't know when they would be able to. We were devistated. As if this wasn't a difficult enough time to be told you can't bury your family member the same day as the service is unbelievable. We ended up purchasing 2 plots in another graveyard in order to bury my father-in-law on Friday so family and friends could attend.

We have since learned of several situations like ours where family are forced to endure unnecessary distress brought on by the management/owners of Highland Memorial Gardens when they should be providing the service they have been paid for in the manner in which the people bought the plots.

We are hoping to bring this situation at Highland to the attention of someone in the media and government who may be able to at least make this facility perform the service people are purchasing especially during such trying times.

Disturbing

My grandmother passed away on April 15, 2009, Highland Memorial Gardens was notified of her passing the very next morning. My grandmother had already purchased her burial plot and had a signed contract with them and they did not honor the contract. Her funeral was on April.18, 2009. Even though they had the grave completely ready, they refused to allow us to hold a service. A man at the graveyard flat out told us tht he didn't know why we were there that no sevices were going to be held, that they would not bury my grandmother as promised in the contract and we should have never showed up. He said they would bury her on Monday. I guess they take the weekends off. They were rude and lacked any class with how he handled himself. I would not recommend this graveyard as your final resting place. Your wishes will not be held with the upmost respect by the folks at Highland Memoril Gardens!
