I have set up a monitoring system for my aunt’s cabin using Monnit’s open/close sensors, and a Monnit cellular gateway. It was easy to create an account using the iMonnit portal. All I had to do was type in some numbers to add the gateway, and sensors to my aunt’s account. Once I finished setting up the account, I installed the sensors. Installing the sensors took the most amount of time. From opening the iMonnit account to installing the last sensor took about 40 minutes. It only took that long because there where a lot of doors, and windows to place a sensor on. Setting up text notifications in iMonnit is fast, and cuts out the home security middle man. Installing the iMonnit app on my smartphone was a breeze, and having the app makes it very easy to check what’s going on with my sensors. Using Monnit open/close sensors instead of a traditional home security system is a lot more affordable, and my aunt is still eligible for a discount on her home owner’s insurance. I would recommend Monnit as a simple, self-install, monitoring solution.
