Ed came off initially as a trustworthy business owner when I took my 10 year-old BMW to him for engine repair. I soon learned he was anything but trustworthy because he executed a classic bait-and-switch. Once he had the car the repair fees and service charges compiled through a blown head gasket, a new radiator needed, then discovering a cracked block requiring a whole new engine. He identified a new engine to be installed at $5,000 but after three months of inexplicable delays, the total was $8,300. I was blatantly wronged by Ed and vow to never bring another vehicle into the parking lot of his Auto Spa and Discount Rent-A-Car.

Auto Spa always deals fairly and gives good service. He backs up his work and will wait for you to come after hours. I have rented cars frequently and his prices are very good.

I have rented cars from Ed a few times and never had a problem. I wanted to comment on negative review here. Before you rent any vehicle you are supposed to go over the car with shop first and have them write down any previous issues. It is a fantastic service when you have to put your car in the shop!

Do not rent a car from this dealer. Our experience was that the rental car was old (2002), dented and scratched and high mileage (more than 140,000). We returned the car at the same time we rented it, one week later, within posted business hours. We returned the car in exactly the same condition and within the allotted free mileage. There was no one at the shop and we were forced to leave the car with a note in the windshield and to go to the post office to mail the keys back. Two days later, the owner accused us of putting a dent in the front end of the car and refused to settle the bill. In discussing this with others in the Sparta area, we found that this is his M.O. So, you are hearby forwarned!
