Lutheran Services in Iowa
12 E 5th St, Spencer, IA 51301
LSI is a nationally accredited human services agency. We provide services to people of all ages, from infants to elder adults. The services we provide span a wide range, too - from therapy, counseling and intensive crisis intervention with families to residential treatment for children and teens; to community supports for people of refugee status and persons with disabilities. LSI has professional staff throughout Iowa to help families struggling with child behaviors, and programs to support parents before the child is even born!
We've helped families who voice their situation as:
"My child is getting into trouble constantly."
"My child is aggressive and so angry all the time."
"My child is out of control."
"I can't get through to my child."
We can help your family be safe and stable. Our professionals can visit you in your home and teach your child skills to improve behavior. This can prevent bigger problems down the road, such as involvement with juvenile court or an out-of-home placement.
We help youth with behavioral or mental health issues improve their behavior by building skills. Some LSI sites also can provide these services for adults.
An LSI professional can visit your home and teach skills such as anger management, coping, decision-making, communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution and relationship-building. These services, also known as behavioral health intervention or in-home services could also help a child who has a diagnosis of ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder or reactive attachment disorder.
Some problems are best solved around a kitchen table. We will sit with you in your home, listen, understand and help you find solutions to your family's struggles.
In addition to counseling services, we also have licensed therapists who can provide assessments and/or ongoing services. Many of our therapists specialize in play therapy. Monday - Friday, by Appointment
