Operational for more than 100 years, American Lung Association strives to prevent lung diseases. Located in Springfield, Ill, the center arranges for various programs, including freedom from smoking, improving outdoor and indoor air quality, lung disease support, teens against tobacco use, asthma camp and healthy lung expo. It propagates awareness about the symptoms, causes and provides treatment of various lung diseases, including lung cancer, asthma, emphysema and chronic bronchitis (COPD) and influenza. The research program of American Lung Association comprises the Awards and Grants program, the Asthma Clinical Research Centers Network (ACRC) and the Epidemiology and Statistics program.
