The guys who work here are really friendly, so I desperately want to like this place. But every experience I've had with them since my bike purchase in 2012, has been terrible. Every time I've asked for my shifter/derailleur to be adjusted, I leave with it just as bad as before. Whatever I ask them to do takes forever. It took 14 days for them to replace the rear brake. That was half a month of me walking miles to work every day without my bike, only to call Springfield Bicycle Company seven days in and find out that they hadn't even looked at it yet. The worst part is they didn't even fix the problem I brought the bike in for, despite telling them twice (once in person and once by phone because they didn’t listen when I dropped the bike off) what I wanted fixed. Also when I brought my bike home I discovered the tail light was missing. Over all, they're really polite to your face, but the product and services are dreadful. Every time, I come home upset.

My husband and I went in yesterday to purchase better bikes than our last bikes (from Walmart 18 years ago). We had the best experience!

We were greeted by David who asked us lots of questions about what we planned to do with our bikes, where we wanted to ride, what price point we thought we were interested in, and then he started showing us bikes. He started on the low end of the price spectrum, told us about the features of the bike and what we could expect from it, then he sent us off to ride the bikes, telling us to take as much time as we needed, even suggested a safe route as we don't live in Springfield.

When we came back, he had the next better bikes ready for us to ride, already adjusted for our heights. After the second ride, he asked how each one felt, went over the features and differences, and asked if we had any questions. There was no pressure to buy.

We purchased two mid range comfort bikes for fitness and recreational riding. My husband is a tall man and the largest size frame they had in stock was too small according to David, so he ordered one from the manufacturer at no extra cost.

After the sale was completed, my new bike was wheeled into the shop for the once over. David loaded my new bike in our truck and continued to visit with us for several minutes. It was a wonderful experience overall and every bike purchased there gets free tuneups for life.

I would recommend to a friend ...

I would recommend to a friend that if he or she wanted service...go elsewhere!

I attempted to purchase a bike yesterday and was completely ignored by who I assume to be the owner (after B.S.'ing with a friend for 20 minutes he left to complete paperwork instead of offering to answer my questions...even though it was obvious I wanted help since I had been waiting patiently either at the counter or at the bike I wanted to buy...I assume he is the owner since he left to do paperwork).

I was then also ignored by the other employee who helped someone else who had only been waiting thirty seconds -instead of twenty minutes. Maybe if I had even been acknowledged in even the slightest form, by either employee, I wouldn't have been so offended...but the reason one goes to a small business is for service...If I want to be ignored I'd go to Walmart (although, sadly, I have had better service at Walmart, lol).

I never even received a single 'hi', or "I'll be with you shortly", etc.

I had brought my very young daughter to buy her first bike (a balance bike) and was extremely excited about the momentous event (bikes play an important role in our family)...once I finally got an employee to hand me one of the balance bikes...he disappeared before I could ask a single question (he had just spent 10 minutes talking with the 'line-jumper')...it was such a 'let down' that I left to make my purchase online even though I would almost always prefer to buy locally.

I would not normally write a negative review...but feel as though the staff caters to a certain 'ideal' of biker. I am a middle-aged mother and even though I ride my bike 25 miles round-trip to work everyday...don't visually appear to be much of a biker. Those receiving help all looked the part.
