When Mr. Elliott built his grocery store in his yard in 1922, then known as The Brick Storehouse, who would have known the building would eventually be the home of Springfields premier dining house known now as Depot Bar & Grill. In 1943, Mr. Elliotts son Otto, took the store over and changed the name to Elliotts Store. Though different owners occupied the building following the Elliotts, groceries were the main commodity sold here until Springfield passed package liquor sales and a new building owner opened Depot Wine & Spirits. Finally in January 2003, Butch Watson and Patsy Jones after extensive renovation opened Depot Bar & Grill. In December of 2003, the current owner Doug Voise purchased the business. Doug started in the food service business at 10 years old when his mom and dad opened a restaurant in Arkansas. In the 35 years that have followed, he has been involved in several different restaurant concepts from fast food to fine dining, bringing to the Depot a vast assortmen t of his own menu creations as well as traditional favorites. From fine food to great service, the Depot Bar & Grill is your stop for a fabulous dining experience.

Secret place for fine dinner. Love the steaks. Love that you can call ahead for seating, cuts down wait.

My lamb had freezer burn, the voodoo pasta came out of a box, the creme brulee was clearly just vanilla pudding. It is a cute building, but the quality is sub-par at best.

The best restaurant not only i...

The best restaurant not only in Springfield, but anywhere around here. The food is always good and the service is always exceptional. In a town full of fast food and mediocre chains such as O'Charley's and Applebees, there only about 4 places that are truly worthwhile, and Depot is most certainly one of them.

A diamond in the rough!

I adore southern cuisine, but after moving to TN from Maine I found myself truly missing seafood. I heard about The Depot from a local who said it was the best food around and a well kept secret. He was right! Although it is small, the menu has something for everyone and an impressive selection of seafood dishes. The crab crakes are the best I've ever eaten with an emphasis on the crab, not a filler! They also offer seafood specials like sea bass with a light curry sauce. Who would have imagined?! You'll have to wait for a table at dinner time (BUT IT'S WORTH IT), but you can get in and out quickly for lunch and the menu options are the same, except for the dinner specials that aren't available until later. Great food prepared fresh, large portions and terrific prices. You'll love this place!
