Hard Times Caf , located in Springfield, Va., is one of 16 full-service Hard Times Cafe restaurants located throughout Virginia, Maryland and Indiana. The restaurant features American-style cuisine, including homemade chili, appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches, desserts and domestic beers. The Hard Times Cafes are designed to recall a Southwestern depression era chili parlor. Its design is simple and honest, making use of polished red oak and terra-cotta tile. Photographs of day-to-day western life, circa 1930, are featured on the sand textured walls. The restaurants also feature a critically acclaimed collection of historic/classic country and western and western swing music, as well as contemporary practitioners of these styles. Hard Times original reatstaurant location and administrative offices are located in Alexandria, Va.
