I would like to address the post form 2008 averygirl. This lady was attempting to walk a 3 month boarding bill. She did sign a contact that stated that upon departure from SEC any all unpaid invoices must be paid by cash or money order. The rest of her post is not true. Our full board price is 425 per month that includes haying your horse with round balls in the pasture sq bales in the stall. horse s are fed quality feed twice a day, stall 12 x 12, auto waters, fans are included in the 425 price, we put your horse in 4 separate pastures depending on the horse personality. We have an out door and in-door arenas, jumps, round pen asphalt aisle ways ( no dirt), in door wash rack, free tailor parking and more. At sunrise 95% of the lessons are three students to a lesson no more than 4 students per lesson (more actual ride time for your kid). Dawn is the only instructor so your child will get consentient lessons. We show at GHHJA so that we compete against other barns from all over the Houston area. At the shows our students do very well. All that I ask is that you look at all of the reviews (sroll down) and more important when looking for a place to board or take lessons go out to barn talk to the owners and lesson parents. Look at the horses. they will tell the story much better than I or any other post on any of these site.

Sunrise Equestrian Center is great!

Sunrise Equestrian Center is a great place to board your horses at. They make sure everything is done and everything stays clean. My daughter takes lessons here and she loves it. She always has a great time at GHHJA (Greater Houston Hunter Jumper Association). She meets many new people all around the Houston area. The owners are very kind and understanding people. They only allow 3-4 people in the arena at a time during the lessons, so the children get more riding time. With the affordable prices and great people around the barn I'm happy to say we will be staying in this barn for a long time.

Trashy Facilities, Owners are Difficult

I boarded my horse at this facility and was nickel and dimed for everything. Read their contract, it is ridiculous, the owner walks by your horse and charges you for it. BEWARE...they will inflate farrier, food and vet bills and keep the excess for themselves. They are crooks, the facility is trashy, the worst I've ever seen. OH and don't be fooled by the hay bales in the field. They charge you and extra $35 per month, per horse for your horse to eat off it, if it can get past all the mean fat horses...most cannot and you will see a lot of skinny horses there. I opted to keep my horse inside and they stopped feeing him his morning food (hay and supplements)...so he was only getting fed once per day and I paid them to feed twice a day. My horse lost lots of weight and when it came to shavings...their contract states they will provide shavings once a month...they will not. And when you call them on it they get upset for you pointing out they aren't holding up their end of the contract. If you supply your own shavings...you will still be charged for the shavings by Sunrise, even when they are not providing them. I moved to Sugarland Stables, along with a lot of other previous unhappy SUNRISE boarders who are happy now...my horse is fat and happy now and that is all that matters. If you want your horse taken care of the right way, and you want to pay a flat fee for board and not end up paying a bunch of additional fees later in the month, I would strongly suggest NOT boarding your horse at Sunrise.
