I used to love going into this store until today, when I was discriminated by the people who work there. I am a middle aged Caucasian mom who came in there with her 12 year old son. I and another Caucasian woman were waiting for someone to help us at the food counter. No one was behind the counter. I asked several employees who all claimed someone else was in charge of that section. I got tired of waiting and decided to step behind the counter to help myself. I needed to get back home to feed my child. Waiting 15 minutes was more than enough time, especially since no one seemed motivated enough to help. Finally, a young lady hesitantly helped me and when I got on the check out line, the cashier immediately placed a "closed' sign on the conveyer belt. I, then, waited on another line and when my son and I looked over, all of a sudden there were several employees behind the food counter helping Asian customers. I threw down the items I planned on purchasing and stormed out of the store. Shame on this store for discriminating against a non-Asian customer, who up until this time was a regular for several years. Will never go back again and plan on spreading the word about how shameful this store's practices are.

A great source for grocery and other food items from East and South Asia. A huge amount of Chinese specialities but also Japanese and Korean offerings, among others. There's a meat/seafood department as well as a hot food counter where prepared meals are available -- there's even seating for those who want to eat in.Vegetarians will be especially interested in the variety of soy and wheat gluten products as well as the amazing noodle aisle with multiple brands of soba (Japanese buckwheat noodles)! What a great asset to Staten Island!
