Great Service!!

Great service and fair!

My daughter attends GSU and while there, she had a transmission issue with her car. I told her to take it to the local dealer. They said it needed a new transmission. I looked online and found Express Tune and Lube and they were right down the street from the University. I asked her to take it there. Same result, it need a transmission. They gave me two options, which I didn't receive from the dealership, either a new transmission or a used transmission with low miles and and a limited warranty. I chose the used transmission. They gave me a good price.I had checked

Great Service, Don't believe the bad ratings

Brought my car in for oil change and to check my tires. Fast friendly service and suggested an alignment for my tires in the next couple of months to mitigate my tire wear. No surprise parts needed replacing just a great experience overall.

Consider this a -1 Star. Go somewhere else. Anywhere else. I used them before they became awful so I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. They do always tell you something is horribly wrong with your car. The first strike was when they attempted to replace the computer in my car. It took them 2 weeks to get it in and they would call me every morning and tell me the car would be ready, then every afternoon it was some new delay. When I finally got it back the girl at the counter snottily informed me that there were ants in my car. Really, because they weren't in there 2 weeks ago. I never saw an ant but when I got home I opened the hood and found oil running and dripping off of everything. They had unscrewed the oil cap and laid it on top of the engine. I called them and was told that they didn't do it...I must have done it and forgotten. I must have stopped on the way home, unscrewed it and forgotten. They didn't offer to clean up the mess or apologize. Then a week later my alternator went out and I took it back because I figured it had something to do with their work. I paid for new alternator that day. The next day they had to replace that one because it was under warranty. Then the next day they replaced the replacement..5 alternators later it turned out they had missed setting some sensor and it was frying the alternator. I Googled the issue and showed up with the print out on how to fix it and handed it to them. The third strike came a couple of weeks later when my radiator burst. They replaced it with apparently no problems. Awesome, right? Then a couple of days later in the car port I noticed a red puddle under the car. They had not in face tightened the hoses to the radiator and I had lost almost every drop of transmission fluid. I haven't been back, I take it to Eagle Automotive (they are wonderful) and I've only had to have the spark plugs and spark plug wires replaced in the past 4 years since I stopped letting Express Tune touch my car (other than tires, oil and brakes). It is amazing how much stuff broke on it while they were 'fixing' it. I'm not saying it was deliberate, I don't know, but if they are that sloppy and making unnecessary repairs to jack up the bill they should not be in business. My advice to people is that if you break down in front of Express Tune then go in and ask them to call you a tow truck to take your car somewhere else:-)

NEVER GO HERE!! I went in for ...

NEVER GO HERE!! I went in for what I believed would be a $35 oil change and ended up with a $60 bill. They even "attempted" to call me before replacing the oil with the more expensive synthetic blend, but instead, took it upon themselves to do it against my will and only reduced the price $10. I was polite and understanding to a degree, but based on all the other bad reviews of this place I will never return here ever again. My car is a 2011 TSX and is in perfect condition.... this was my first oil change in this car and my last visit to this highway robbery of an establishment. Save your money and go to Castrol Car Care off Northside Drive, I have no clue why I didn't go there to begin with. F - - -

My girlfriend and I went down ...

My girlfriend and I went down there to get her SUV inspected after we noticed an oil leak at home. We were told that the seal on the oil cap was bad and needed to be replaced, but what was leaking was "transmission fluid." She was then given a list of other problems with the car and upon repair would cost several hundred dollars. The major concern they had was replacing the leaking transmission fluid hose so we told them to replace it. She drove her car home the following weekend to have a relative install new brake pads and was informed that the leaky hose was never replaced; but rather patched up and the nut holding it in place was rusted and cracked. Therefore, they were paid roughly $150 for doing absolutely nothing to correct the problem. The following day the car quit running. Needless to say I have used them in the past and was not fully satisfied and will no longer use them. Judging from other users' negative experience, I am quite surprised they continue to win awards...

Go in for an oil change, leave with a $1200 repair bill

I went in for an oil change and to have my truck tuned up. They told me I needed a COMPLETELY new brake system, urgently needed new back tires, plus $300 or so of engine work done.

My truck is not new so I wasn't willing to put that kind of money into it. A friend offered to take a look at the truck and the written estimate I got from Express Tune & Lube and see what he could do. He gave me a list of about $100 worth of parts to pick up at an auto parts store and fixed the truck that weekend. It didn't need new brakes (the front brake pads were slightly worn) or new tires (for several months at least).

I have since heard from several people in town that they have experienced this same type of treatment at this business. Men who know lots about cars may have better luck, but if you're female/young, don't bother, or at least have them give you a written estimate that you can give to someone else to check for you.

Also, the claims about them making things worse is also true. My truck was nearly undriveable when I left their store. They had pulled a spark plug wire loose in the course of their diagnostics.

They are still getting business because of past performance. They may have been trustworthy once, but that is not the case now.

Not even worth one star

I brought my car there because the water was leaking. They fixed it for $600 dollars and "guaranteed" it. Three weeks later the same problem was occurring. They said that I had hit something and that's why it was happening again. I never hit anything, and they basically argued with me to tell me I did just so they wouldn't have to give me my money back. Also, they quoted me $2000 dollars to fix it. I went to University Imports and they were very honest and quoted me $900. They also did not see any of the "problems" that Express Tune & Lube did. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

this place is horrible :(

This place is a scam! It survives only because it is located by GSU and the students don't know how bad they are. They will mess up your car! Seriously! And they over-charge :(

These people should be ashamed of themselves

I am new to Statesboro and unfortunately found out how awful this place is after the fact. After they messed up my vehicle I talked to some friends and then family members who surprisingly had very similar experiences with them and who all wished that I would have asked them about Express T&L before I took my vehicle to them.

I have to admit, I don't know anything about car mechanics and I was fooled by the nice exterior, the courteous service, and the comfortable waiting room... I thought that this place would be professional and proficient in fixing the small problem I had with my vehicle... But I was dead wrong.

Firstly: Express T&L over-charges on car parts. The two parts I needed for my vehicle cost a little less than $100 direct from the dealer (of course I found this out after the fact). These people charged me OVER $200 for the parts alone, telling me this is what they would cost from the dealer (I drive a luxury brand car and cannot use parts from other car brands; I thought this was why they were so expensive, not because they were over-charging).

Secondly: They found other things wrong with my vehicle related to the initial problem. Other things that ended up costing me even more money. I have learned from several people that this is their regular practice -even when there are no other problems. I am extremely tempted to think that they create these problems themselves. As a friend said to me: "my vehicle was never the same after I got it back from that place..." Also, I have learned from others who have lived in Statesboro all their lives that these people have gone out of business already once before (and probably will again; they have certainly lost many customers because of their shoddy business practices).

Thirdly: After I got my car back from them I had problems with it (mechanically) that I NEVER had before I brought it into them. This is consistent with at least three other Statesboro residents who I've talked to about this (and doubtless many more I haven't talked to). I would not let them touch my car again, even if they offered to fix the problems THEY caused for free. My vehicle is relatively new and has never had serious problems before...

This place really is awful. When you don't know much about car mechanics it leaves you in a very vulnerable spot when something goes wrong with your vehicle: these people take full advantage of that with a smile on their faces. It makes me sick to think of it. They really should be ashamed of themselves. Really and fully ashamed. Especially in this economy when many people are without jobs and it is tough for everyone... To take advantage of people with something as vital as their vehicle is shameful. Completely and utterly shameful. Like a doctor taking advantage of patients' medical problems, over-charging on medicine, and telling them they need expensive medicines and procedures that are unecessary and cause more problems...

Shameful.

I have taken the time to come on here and write this review because I feel like I need to warn people who are perhaps new to Statesboro (with GSU here there are new students who move here all the time) and unlike the locals don't know about how horrible this place is.

After talking to so many other people about this place I have to wonder... who the hell wrote the other reviews? After looking at them and seeing the same good reviews posted over and over (verbatim) it is obvious the employees themselves did it. Sickening and shameful.

Excellent service and excellen...

Excellent service and excellent people. I am a female college student, and I have gone here several times. On each occasion, I have received nothing less than excellent service. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They are the only people I trust not to rip me off.

best car repair in the boro

Express Tune is the best car repair shop in town. I've been going there for years and have always gotten nothing but top quality service. The staff is friendly and helpful. I do not understand the previous negative reviews. I guess it's proof that you can't please everbody. As far as I'm concerned this shop is top notch.

Best place in the boro

I've been living here for about 5 years now and this place is hands down the best place to go in Statesboro. The people are always friendly and knowledgeable. I am not a friend of the owner or in any way affiliated with any one who works there by the way and I know enough about cars to know that they have never tried to rip me off. They actually saved me money one time. Best place in the boro.

Not Good

The other reviews were obviously writen by the owner or friends. It is the biggest college scam it Statesboro, second only to maybe University Tire.
