Provided by YP.comThis quaint little German restaurant serves wonderful food and the sides that are served with meals (sauerkraut, red cabbage, green beans, spaetzle, etc.) are "all you can eat", so all you have to do is ask for more! The reviewer who complained about the size of the side dishes was either uninformed or was being intentionally negative. Unfortunately I have not been there for dinner but they have German bands entertaining some times! If you are in the area and love German food, jump off I-81 and give this place a try!

We ate here for our 15th wedding anniversary and thought it was wonderful! The food, we both agreed, was just about the best we'd ever eaten! BTW, I am vegetarian, and they had the BEST veggie burger I have EVER eaten! I sure wish I had that recipe! The atmosphere was, as there was a man playing an accordian! And the wait staff made us feel very welcomed, as if we were family visiting! This was a great dining experience for my husband (of 15 years) and I.

We were pleasantly surprised to find a German restaurant near the interstate on a cross country drive. We went in with low expectations but found something really special. The food was great. I'm not from Germany but I've travelled there and it seemed very authentic to me. Highly recommended.

Provided by YP.comAs a devotee of German cuisine and culture, I was excited to find a German restaurant near a small town we visited in Virginia. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The atmosphere was certainly pleasant and a very nice older woman was our server (she was German herself). But the food was not very impressive and quite overpriced. I ordered sauerbraten and it was a couple of slices of thin, cafeteria style roast beef in a watery gravy. The side dishes that come with each order were very sparse ... a tiny dish of sauerkraut, one of red cabbage, one of spaetlze and one of green beans ... for our entire table! My wife ordered beef stroganoff which was somewhat better because it at least had more meat (although it was salty). Our son ordered a hot dog from the children's menu and there was no hot dog bun, an inexcusable omission for such a simple dish (he is four years old).
Our two adult lunch entrees, our son's children's entree and a small dish of rice pudding (ordered for our 2 year old daughter) cost $41. This was ridiculously overpriced for the quality and portion size.
I have eaten German food in Germany itself as well as in many restaurants in the US, and sadly, despite the nice atmosphere and friendly service, I found Edelweiss to offer the worst value.
