Provided by YP.comDon't listen to the negative people on this site. Gifford's was awesome. They have by far the best selection of tv's and appliances anywhere around. The prices on what I was shopping for was far less than any other place around. I just moved here and found them to be the best I have ever dealt with. They were very knowledgeable on everything and made some great suggestions that helped me find exactly what I was looking for. Thanks Chris. So my advice would be don't listen to the people who talk bad about them. Give them a shot and see for yourself. They are the best.

Provided by YP.comI've held this in for awhile now and until our most recent encounter, I was just going to let it go but now I really feel like others should know how aweful this business is. This all started for me when my son was graduating from high school and I was one of the moms helping with project graduation back in 2006. The salesman at Giffords said we could purchase anything for half off and eveything went great. It was a big success and that salesman was helpful, kind and polite. Mr. Gifford himself even thanked us for doing business with them. This year with my daughter graduating high school I once again helped with project graduation. We had our typical first meeting and then started to work on the business list. To my surprise everyone avoided Giffords like the plague even after I had told them how great they had been in the past. As the fellow moms and I worked down the list and realized we still had a large amount of funds left for prizes I decided to go ahead and go to Giffords. Big mistake! I went in and started to talk to Chris Gifford who right from the start flipped personalities when I went from looking at fridges to explaining that I was with project graduation. When I started to talk about the half off discount and how much it helped my sons class he then interrupted me and said that they no longer offer half off to project graduation. To say the least, I was taken back from his comment. Still in a state of shock, I then asked him why they no longer offered the discount and he said and I quote "because of people like you". At this point I could not even comprehend his rudeness and just stood there listening to him go on about how the don't profit from it and they get nothing in return. Isn't that the point of a donation? Regardless, I was shocked and extremely disappointed in how I was treated. Now it made complete sense why the other moms wanted nothing to do with Giffords and when I returned to tell them the story once again to my surprise, many of them also commented about his rudeness to them. From that day forward I have not bought a single item from their store. That would have been enough for a lifetime for me personally. I was even willing to hold back from writing this review but then the most recent incident happened. Which looking at some of the other reviews and talking to other people now after the fact I believe this is just a common practice for them now. It all started again when the very tv that my son had won from project graduation stopped working. I told him he was better off throwing it away and buying another one from Walmart but when he was back in town he took it up there to have them look at it because he said it was hard to find one with a built in player anymore. They even made him pay a fee upfront to run the tests on it. Nearly a month later when he called himself the repairman told him that it was too costly to fix and that he would have to buy a new one. When he told them he wasn't buying a new one they acted like they were not even going to give him the tv back. He did finally get it back and when he went back to San Antonio he had another repairman look at it and was told that it was a common, small problem. They ended up fixing it for less than Giffords even charged my son to look at it in the first place. This to me should be illegal. It seems that they are only concerned with everyone buying a new tv from them and ripping off their clients. I am in the middle of submitting this to the BBB and other organizations and would encourage anyone else who has experienced this to report their event as well so that maybe they can investigate these deceptive practices and at least stop them in the future or refund any money from those who have suffered in the past. I'm sorry for such a long post but I feel that I at least owe it to everyone to let them know just how this business is ran and let them learn from my mistakes, not their own.

Provided by YP.comWe always like to shop local & support our community but I just cant justify paying alot more for the same thing. My son bought a range there back in the spring and soon after found it nearly 200 bucks less somewhere else. I had the same luck with my last small tv but while looking for a larger one for our den, Giffords said led was the best so we measured the screen and took down the model. When looking at it online we found it on tigerdirect for 600 bucks less and it even came with extra 3d glasses. Service is nice but what I keep hearing is that all the new stuff is just made to throw away anyways, so if thats the case then well take the 600 dollars. When our washer needed new bearings and a pump it was less to just order a new one from Lowes than to even mess with the repair and the guy even told us theyre all built by the same people anyways. Id shop there if they could at least be more competitive but overtime it just seems like they keep getting higher and higher and dont have what it takes to make a difference with service. At least then we might could still justify it but when we have to replace it anyway and sometimes wait weeks for calls or parts then were just going to start watching our bottom line. jacketfansville

Provided by YP.comAfter 5 service appointments and waiting for weeks to have my directv fixed... I still had issues with it and was locked into a 2 year contact. I started calling directv instead and their guy had the problem fixed in 15 mintes for no cost to me. Ive already started using someone else for my appliance and tv fixes too. When I took my flat screen in they said the screen went bad and that it would cost more to fix then to replace it and then tried to get me to look at new ones for $2500. I took it somewhere else a week later and then was told that it was just a minor repair and walked out for less than $200. The other guy in the metroplex said he gets that all the time. So needless to say, I wont be back to giffords.

Provided by YP.comIm really dissapointed in how this store is run now. I cant ever get anyone to return my calls and its like no one there is held accountable. I bought a new fridge and had their guys deliver it. They scratched the fridge door and nicked my floor and told me they would tell the manager Chris. Months went by with no word and when I finally called up there they had no record of it at all and the appliance guy said a new door would be over 500 to replace. This is just the most recent problem.
1. We bought a TV that lasted 2 years and cost over 3000 and we were never told it had to have a light bulb replaced every year that was 400.
2. Our washer doesnt fill with enough water and they refuse to fix it and said that they all do that now and theres nothing they can do and wont refund it.
3. We got internet through them and now they dont even service that brand anymore and dont have anyone that knows how to work on it.
4. When I got my daughter a small plasma for her room the box had been opened and had scratches all over it was missing parts after I specificly told them I wanted a brand new one in a box.

Provided by YP.comPlease forgive me as I am more than frustrated right now. Long story short, even after being treated poorly the time before when purchasing a new washer and dryer, for some reason I still continued to do business there but I will never return after this whole thing. First of all, Chris the manager told me one price then switched the pricing even after promising me that it would still have a rebate. Then when confronted, he turned into an even worse person. I should have just turned and walked away but for some reason I just did the deal to get it done for my husbands sake. Now I'm stuck with a $2500 tv that has a bad panel thats barely over a year old from a brand that they don't even carry anymore after one of their tech guys told me they discontinued them because of so many issues. You would think he would take care of it but now he won't even return my calls and I'm getting the same old run around from the women answering the phone. With customer service like this I'm surprised theyre even open!!! So Mad!

Provided by YP.comAfter having one bad experience with the manager before, I went ahead and gave them another shot and I can now say that I will never set foot in that store again. And after reading the rest of the reviews posted, seems like Chris, the owner has a serious attitude problem. Sad to see after having delt with his dad for years before and always getting great service, the new one shouldnt even be working with the public at all. I ended up buying from sears.

Provided by YP.comGiven this is delayed, but I am very dissapointed. I was told great things about the store but I found them to not only be rude but later when I called and talked to the owner Chris, he all but told me to go somewhere else. Absolutely avoid at all costs! Sherry T.

I just learned about this site today, Jan. of 2012 so am late posting my review. This is the first review I have ever posted anywhere and regret it is negative.
In 2007, Lightning knocked out most my appliances & tv's. Because my husband dealt with the original owner for years, we chose Gifford's TV & Appliances. We learned his grandson, Chris had taken over. He was very friendly and quickly put me at ease in having to purchase so many products at once. I purchased one 5ft and two 32" flat screens, dishwasher, trash compactor, $600 speaker system he put with a Pioneer receiver and a type of VCR/DVD player he explained would copy my old VHS movies onto DVD's. All total I spent around $7,000.
(1) He neglected to explain the 5' screen would need a high dollar 'lamp' every couple of years. Mine went out in a year. He charged me $100 service call and the price of the lamp plus a little for his trouble in having to order it.. Total cost was between $250-300. I flipped out! Every year or so this had to take place? When it went out again in another year, I learned to order straight from manufacturer and put it in myself for a third of the cost. He could have told me that with the 1st replacement.
(2) While installing the garbage compactor they chipped an inch piece of cabinet top off. I never could use the step-lever to open, have to open by pulling on it. No offer to pay for damages. I was not at home when this happened. My husband either didn't notice, or let it go. When I called about it, no one listened.
(3) One week after installation, the dishwasher flooded the kitchen. Had to get them back out. There is still a piece of 2" wide plastic the width of the DW laying on the bottom of it. Appears to be a piece of it that came off.
(4) The tape player would not allow transfer of my old VHS tapes because they were copyrighted. Of course they were, they were movies. He should have known this. Plus, after attempting the transfers with no success, I played a couple of Elvis movies then never turned the thing back on. A couple of years later a grandkid wanted to play a DVD and it wouldn't work, still doesn't. Warranty was long gone. Over $300 for a machine that never gave me any service.
(5) He talked me into connecting to Dish Network through him, so his guys could install it along with everything else and we wouldn't have to wait on Dish to send someone out.. Week later, no satellite. Called Dish, they said I had to contact Gifford's since I'd connected through them. That took another week for them to come back. All this time with no TV. I had to call them back out a couple of times and still no satellite working. Finally, I called Dish and explained after a month I still had no satellite. They said they had paid him and he should help me. I insisted, and Dish Network finally came to help me.
Also, hooking up the speaker system was a mess. One of the service guys bitched and moaned all the while. One was very professional and nice. He was Chris's brother and was wonderful. His helper was useless.
I take full responsibility for not being more 'buyer aware'. In my defense however, Chris (owner) was told we had to buy several items, and I had to count on him to do us right, that there would be more purchases in the future if all went well. I explained my husband had dealt with his grandfather for 30 years, and told me this is the place I could trust. I explained my tech knowledge was zero so I had to rely on him explaining each item to me, especially the TV's new technology. Had I known an expensive lamp had to be replaced so often (or at all) I would never have purchased that type of TV especially for $2,000.
This transaction became so bizarre, it felt like I'd entered the Twilight Zone.
Regretfully,
a former customer
