First Med began in 1988 as a small family owned Ambulance Company on the eastern shore of Virginia, performing about 500 transports per year. It is one of the largest transportation companies in the Southeast. The company offers a wide array of transportation services to dialysis treatment centers, emergency departments, long term care facilities, nursing homes, private citizens and residences, among others. In addition, First Med offers services, such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), Critical Care Transport (CCT), etc. The company transports over 100,000 patients per year.
