Clients come to psychotherapy for many reasons, and my job is to learn about your concerns in order to design a course of psychotherapy that will effectively move you towards feeling well and functioning at your optimum capacity across all facets of your life. For some clients, a few sessions of supportive counseling can get them through a difficult transition or help them make a tough decision. Other clients work on coping skills and interpersonal relationships usingDialectical Behavior Therapy, and others are gaining insight about how their relationships (past and present) affect their sense of identity and their well-being through Relational Psychodynamic Therapy. Clients with mood and anxiety disorders may focus exclusively on relieving their most troubling symptoms using Cognitive Behavior Therapy. This work is done in an atmosphere of emotional warmth and caring support with acceptance for where you are right now and my optimism for who you are becoming. Through my experience as a researcher, an educator and a clinician, I know that everyone has an inner strength and a force for positive growth that can flourish once barriers to wellness are removed. I would be privileged to help you lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.
