I went here for the first time last week. This is the perfect little dive to take a first date if you never want to see her again. The bartender made us wait while she argued with a midget over the peoper way to pour a draft. The decor is 1990s dive plus a few widescreen televisions. Looks like a moron built the lowest price bar possible and not a penny has been spent since. Everyone there couldnt care less about the atmosphere through the fog of alcohol and not so legal substances. This must be the place where the hells angels go after being thrown out of everywhere else.

fantastic

I only drink one kind of beer. This almost secret historic treasure should not be missed. Originally built around 1750, this building has served as a colonial inn and tavern when the hamlet of Stormville was a fashionable spa and widely know for female histeria cure consisting of treatments of swamp cabbage, warm mud, cocain and carbonic colonic cleansing. During the American Revolution, General Washington did indeed sleep here and visited the soldiers who were training of the parade grounds. Many wounded from the battle at Danbury convalesed on premiss in the hospital Washington commissioned in the Hamlet in 1777. During the 19th century, the building was used as a dining facility and dormitory for the orphans of Civil War Solders and the early 20th century saw this wonderful building used as a dorm for the young artists of the Stormville Academy of Arts. Many fine works and relics remain on the property today, although somewhat deteriorated by age and mold. The site is a curious mix of celebrities and NYC socialites who commonly frequent this historic gem and cant miss dive bar.

Travelers Find

I am new to this City Search thing, but me and the band passed through NY on tour and I wanted to let other musicians and travelers who may not be familiar with NY where to go eat and drink. The locals already flock to this place, but we were lucky enough to stumble (literally) upon it. The rest of the Hudson Valley pretty much sacks, but this place is worth passing through to get to. In a nutshell: Big bar, cool velvet paintings, nice patio ( you have to smoke outside in Stormville), a kitchen, hot and really nice bartenders, CHEAP drinks, fast service, tons of beers to choose from. Your money goes a long way here, and the buffalo wings are not to be missed. I wish they did not have to close at 4am, but they told me they open everyday before 2, so I guess that is long enough. I will be back, and you should not miss this place when in New York

Dirty but Worth It

You can start a tab and drink all week till pay day. Very nice people where the women will kiss you hello and good bye. No trouble.. the locals only fight each other. Most regulars drink till bombed and leave by 7pm. Late nights are really wild. Cops never hastle you this far in country. The floor and bar are filthy.. say a few Hail Mary's before entering the bathroom. I always use the bathroom at the pizza place next door. Good people and loads of fun.

Best Water Hole

This place is great! Really strong drinks and very high gravity beers. Buy backs after two or three drinks. The food is not real good, but no one cares because its throw back bar where you can drink like its 1979. The bar tenders are ultra friendly and always doing shots with the patrons. The owner is very knowledgeable about beer and music. Great cover bands play every weekend. Dogs are welcome and encouraged. A great place in the country where you can be yourself with out being judged. Fighting is tolerated as long as you take it out back. A good place to drink alot!
