Too much hassle

They double charged me for what I should pay. I contacted them after I found out from my insurance company. I set an appointment with the office staff to figure out my bill. Even though it is so obvious from the EOB provided by the insurance company that I should pay half of the amount they charged me. She has to go through the bill ten times to realize what happened. For example, I told her that I should pay nothing for my teeth cleaning and exam as it was covered by my insurance company. But they charged 76 dollars above the contracted fee and made me to pay for it. I told her that they should charge according to the contracted fee with the insurance company. At first, she was like, that is just a term for how much the insurance company wants to cover. Then I showed her the definition of contract fee: How much the dentist should charge for this kind of service based on the contract. Then, she was like, 'Oh, we can charge you whatever we like.' Then I questioned her, 'What is the point of me going here. I found your office through my insurance website. I came here because you are within the network.' Then she admitted that there is some write-off. But every time, she realized that she has to credit me back because they did not charge me with the within-network fee, she started over again. We did this for over an hour.



Finally, she told me that no one but the dentist's wife has the authority to refund me, and she has to call the insurance company again and go over this again with the dentist's wife. So I waited another week and called her up. She said that she was not sure about the write off for the second visits, and was still waiting for my insurance to call back. Then I asked her if I would be sure to get my refund back for my first visit and third visit. She then told me that she doesn't know and has to contact the insurance company. I felt that she is not being sincere.



A couple days later, they finally told me to credit back 91 dollars after I told them to expect a call from my insurance company and my lawyer who is also my fiance. But they won't credit me back 35 dollars as they claim it be a computer mistake.
