It is not an easy decision having to place a parent in a nursing facility, but to have to place 2 is unthinkable. Had it not been for the amazing nursing staff and support given by the management I am not sure what I would have done. My dad was in 2 other facilties before Blue Hills and he was never happy. Once he arrived at Blue Hills he was not only treated like the amazing man he is but like the gentle man he always has been. The way he responded to everyone truly showed me this was a different place, he has been happy ever since he arrived. My mom also suffers from dementia and here they can be together which is very comforting. She enjoys the daily acitivities that are offered and loves the nursing staff. Blue Hills has one of the BEST nursing staffs I have ever dealt with. Kindred should be proud of each of them.

The staff at the Blue Hills Alzheimers Care Center is specially trained in dealing with the unique behavioral issues and needs of Alzheimer's patients. They are experts in redirecting patients when they become agitated and have a unique ability to determine a patient's needs, even when it cannot be verbalized. In addition to the specialized staff, the most significant difference between this facility and others is that patients are not confined and are given the freedom to safely roam the entire building, something which is frowned upon in most other nursing homes. This freedom is an important tool in their treatment. The entire staff, from the Director to the aides always have a smile for the family and understand the difficulty of this disease. There is also a beautiful garden for the patients to enjoy during the summer. I highly recommend this facility.
