Provided by YP.comI would never recommend this place, because the front desk girl is so attitudy. Not to mention you don't see the Veterinarian. When I dropped my dog off for surgery to be spayed, the Veterinarian never came out to the receptionist area to introduce himself. We never went to an examine room. When I came back to get her, I had to ask to meet him. I wanted to see the person who did surgery on my dog. When I went back after surgery to pick my doggie up, the receptionist girl brought her out to me & turned my dog around, she had her dangling like, not cradling her carefully to show her stapled area to me to talk about it. She wasn't very careful & I guess they don't bandage the area either, cause my dogs cut was exposed. Anyhow I let that slide, but when we went to pick her up that same receptionist young girl wasn't very friendly & accused us of letting our dog pull loose her staples, when that was how it looked when we brought her home from surgery. I have pictures of her first day home after surgery to prove this. Then she gave us dirty looks & saying howcome you don't have her cone on, when she never told us to have her wear that when she comes in. I told her she wore it at nights & we watch her during the day with it off ( we had her in our lap on her small bedding; we took turn about sitting with her during those days). That cone didn't fit her head. It was wobbly & too long. I had to cut it down to size to fit her. Their instructions on the paper they gave us said that they will be calling & checking on my dog, which they never did. They don't seem very courteous & professional to me. The front desk girl snipped out her staples at the front desk, leaving the staples on the floor. She was pulling my dogs leg out, so I adjusted my doggies bottom so that girl won't pull her leg out of socket, while my daughter was holding her as that girl snipped the staples out. She wasn't gentle in handle my dog. I felt it was unprofessionally done out there in the waiting room. I didn't see the Veterarian, just that girl acting like she's a doc or something. The price was excellent, & he might very will be a good Veterarian, but he's not very involved face to face with client's (at least in my case) & miss-attitude receptionist girl needs an attitude adjustment. She shouldn't be working there, cause she can hurt the business with her hateful attitude. Although they were very good at clipping my doggies nails & I thank them for this. You want a place that cares for your dog as much as you do & their clients. I won't be back that's for sure. Bad experience in my case.

Provided by YP.comWow, where do I begin...I don't trust any other Vets then Doctor Rick Hammett. I live 60 miles away from Strausburg, that is a hour and a half car trip, and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Last year my roommate's border collie dislocated his shoulder. We went to a vet near the house who charged us $650 to put the shoulder back in place and bandage the dog up so he would hobble until it healed. It didn't work so we took him back and the vet said we had three choices. Try to put the shoulder back in again ($650), amputate the leg ($1,130), or put the dog on pain meds for life ($80 a month). We took him to Doc Hammett and he told us that the pain should pass. We didn't need to give him medicine every day just when he needed it. He also showed us that the dog was getting around fine on the dislocated shoulder ($55). Today we have not needed to give the border collie pain meds in 8 months and he gets around wonderfully. I rescued a kitten and took it to a cat clinic which quoted me $650 for a spay/neuter and a grand total of $900 for first shots plus spay/neuter. Doc Hammett did it for a quarter of the price. I took 6 animals to Doc Hammett and all went home on different medications ($500). We took the Australian Shepard to the local vet and they told my roommate we had to put her down. We took her to Doc Hammett and he said that it wasn't time yet. She lived happily and pain free for another 6 months. I boarded 6 animals at a local vet because we were going out of town and the electricity went out unexpectedly. The local said they needed bordetella and 1 rabies shot for a cat to board them ($850). The vet also said my elder cat needed to have his tooth surgically removed. He quoted me $800 so I called my local pet and they quoted me $1050. Doc Hammett quoted me a quarter of the price. I took the elder cat to Animal Care Center for the surgery then came back the next day to pick him up. The total was $85 and they said the surgery never took place. Doc Hammett apologized for having to charge me for sedating him. I found out that they put the elder cat under and went to do the surgery just to find out it was an unnecessary surgery. Doc Hammett explained that the other vet was just trying to make more money off of me. I have also friended him on Facebook so any time I have a medical animal question I write him. I am never taking my animals to another vet ever again!

Provided by YP.comOur family pet of 12 years had to put to sleep on Sunday. We struggled with this decision for sometime and on Sunday we knew we had to be fair to her and called the vet. Dr. Hammett met us at the office, allowed us to stay with our dog until she passed. He too stayed until we had regained our composure. He and his staff is very friendly and genuinely like animals.
We also have a cat that chooses to dislike most people and she chooses to like Dr. Hammett. He speaks softly and handles the pets with love.
