NHS Human Services - Pocono Mountain Center is one of the locations of NHS Human Services, which is a community-based, nonprofit organization that has been serving the special needs of children and adults for more than 40 years. NHS Human Services offers a range of integrated services in the areas of behavioral health, intellectual and developmental disabilities, addictive diseases, therapeutic foster care, juvenile justice, special education and elder care. It serves over 50,000 individuals throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, North Carolina and Louisiana. NHS Human Services operates the Northwestern Academy, which is a 290-plus-bed residential complex for delinquent and dependent youth. Its community living program provides homes to a group of individuals with mental retardation and severe medical and physical problems who need higher levels of staff support, including professional nursing. NHS Human Services - Pocono Mountain Center is located in Stroudsburg, Pa.
