Our Mission Statement: We at Planet Fitness are here to provide a unique environment in which anyone, and we mean anyone, can be comfortable. A diverse, Judgement Free Zone where a lasting, active lifestyle can be built. Our product is a tool, a means to an end; not a brand name or a mold-maker, but a tool that can be used by anyone. In the end, it's all about you. As we evolve and educate ourselves, we will seek to perfect this safe, energetic environment, where everyone feels accepted and respected. We are not here to kiss your butt, only to kick it if that's what you need. We need you, because face it, our planet wouldn't be the same without you. You belong! The Judgment Free Zone: As the most innovative health club brand in the United States, Planet Fitness is known for a lot of things, our absurdly low prices, our Lunk Alarm, and most of all perhaps, for our Judgement Free Zone philosophy, which means members can relax, get in shape, and have fun without being subjected to the hard-core, look-at-me attitude that exists in too many gyms. How Different Is Planet Fitness?: We don't have any salespeople, and we don't bother with all the extras like juice bars and childcare that drive up costs and can make a gym membership seem more like a car payment. Instead, we've boiled our business down to the things that you really want in a health club: clean, stylish, hassle-free facilities that are filled with tons of brand-name cardio and strength equipment, and a lot of happy people. If you're looking for a comfortable, friendly place to exercise, and like a great deal, then you'll love Planet Fitness.

Everything they say they aren't.

Completely ridiculous and not true to the company brand. My husband and I have been members for a few weeks. He is a weight lifter, so we were a little worried about being stereotyped. The first day we were there, he was approached and told that he was dropping the weights too loudly. He wasn't. The weights are heavy and hit the padded ground harder sometimes. He was trying to be careful, but that wasn't enough. We got over the awkward moment and continued going, making sure to be even more careful.

However, today we were there and watched a woman dressed in a sports bra that was also incredibly low cut and a small pair of shorts. Even the employees agreed she was dressed inappropriately. The dress code sign says no string tank tops. She obviously had significantly less. Now this wouldn't normally bother me. I was working out at LA Fitness before switching here, and there are plenty of women who dress like that. However, she was not in there to work out. She pretended to do so by doing one to three reps of any body weight exercise and then stopped. She stood by the weight machines wondering what to do for a bit. Then she chose the elliptical and never broke a sweat. She then proceeded to pose in the mirror with a guy for literally ten minutes. Flexing and everything. For ten minutes straight.

While this was going on, which was clearly in violation of what Planet Fitness is supposed to represent, the lunk alarm went off several times while a skinny male struggled to actually work out. He wasn't trying to attract attention to himself.

I mentioned this to the employees, who agreed that it was wrong. One employee called the district manager, who told him they can't do anything about it. Funny, because I remember an article about how Planet Fitness kicked a pregnant woman out for showing less than two inches of her stomach. The employee told me the district manager said she would contact me regarding the situation very soon. That was earlier today, and I never heard anything.

Their brand is a joke and obviously doesn't actually matter to any of them. I switched because it costs less and has tanning. I would gladly pay extra to stay at LA Fitness, where I never felt uncomfortable.
