Amit K. Agarwal, MD, FACS, FASCRS, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained colorectal surgeon who treats patients of all ages. His clinical interests include minimally invasive and robotic surgery of the colon and rectum, cancer screening colonoscopy, benign and malignant conditions of the colon, rectum, and anus, as well as pelvic floor disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, and incontinence. He is also involved in surgical education and clinical research.  Agarwal is an associate professor in the Department of Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.  Born and raised in Paris, Texas, he earned his undergraduate degree in biology at Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and his medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. He then completed his residency in general surgery and a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Agarwal has authored several peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and has presented scientific research regionally and nationally. He’s a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the Texas Medical Association, and the Harris County Medical Society. He’s married to Nima-Patel Agarwal, MD, an obstetrician and gynecologist at Sugar Land Medical Spa. Outside of work, he enjoys going to sporting events, running, skiing, deep-sea fishing, and spending time with friends and family.
