Dr. David H. Kruchko is a caring gastroenterologist who is driven by the complexities of patients with gastrointestinal issues. Originally from Virginia, Dr. Kruchko completed his undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech University and remained in Blacksburg, VA to obtain his medical degree. From there, he moved to Chicago to complete his medical residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. Dr. Kruchko is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. In addition to managing swallowing disorders, abdominal discomfort, dysfunction of the liver, gallbladder, and pancreas, and inflammatory bowel disease, he is passionate about preventing colorectal cancer and all GI-related cancers. Dr. Kruchko spent his final year of fellowship studying and publishing research in the field of inherited GI-cancer syndromes. He completed a course with the City of Hope to become a Certified Genetic Cancer Risk Assessment Specialist. This specialized training allows him to help patients understand the importance and nuances of genetic testing results. He is also well equipped to perform the necessary procedures such as endoscopy and colonoscopy to help prevent GI-related cancers. He is thrilled with the opportunity to work as a community gastroenterologist with the exceptional Medical University of South Carolina. He looks forward to having the resources and support to put patients first and continue providing excellent clinical care to make a positive impact on our community.
