DO NOT bring your loved ones to SMC Emergency Room. Their ER staff treated us as if we were an inconvenience from the time we got there. My family member was having chest and arm pain, they took her into triage and rolled her back to the waiting room. Her pain got worse, I told the triage nurse, he rolled his eyes and came out to waiting room and said its going to be 5 min. Male nurse comes out takes her back and ruder than the first. When I call him out on it he calls security. If he hates his job that bad I suggest he find another profession. If I could give this place anything lower than 1 I would. I wouldn't bring satin here. I have asked to speak to a supervisor at 3 times and of course that hasn't happened yet. You can bet I will be calling the hospital administrator first thing in the morning.

I went to another ER prior to coming here. I had more questions answers within 3 minutes of being in the ER than I did in 3 at the other one! I'm very happy with my experience here! Everyone has been very informative!

awful techs, wonderful dr's

My husband cut his big toe with a chainsaw while at work. He rushed to the ER and was put in a room almost imediatley. After he was in the room, I got off work and came up to the ER. After I got there he had already been there for about 20 minutes. He was holding his foot with his dirty sock and was bleeding all over the floor. The dr. was assisting another patient so I understand he wasn't avalible. But the fact that not one of the nurses, or techs, offered him a clean towel, paper towels or ANYTHING all while he was bleeding all over the floor was very disturbing. It was another hour and twenty minutes before anyone came into that room. The dr. was amazing. He was attentive and really showed that he cared. He went above what was expected. After he left, the tech came in and put an stint on his foot. She was very ruff with his injury and was rude and you could tell she hated her job.

We had to return 2 days after the accident and the Nurse on staff at that time was AWSOME! You could tell he really believed in his job. The Dr. wasn't as nice but he was efficent. Again, the tech was horrible. You could tell he didn't want to be there.

I think they need to make sure the people who are helping people want to be.

I have read other reviews and can understand them. When my mom was in Summerville Medical, the care she received was a great deal different than the care I received August 2016. I am not sure what happened, but Summerville Medical has improved 100%! I was not happy about going to Summerville Medical because of prior knowledge. They have improved!!!

I was not pleased as to how I was treated this evening at Summerville Medical. I was treated like was a dope fiend, making up something to get drugs! I went in because I've been in pain, with an injury that occurred a little while ago. I came to Summerville to get a second opinion for my hand. The ER PA treated me so rudely! I asked for a note for work BECAUSE I WORK WITH BOTH MY HANDS and was told I could return to work because my injury wasn't "new." I wasn't asked what I did for a living and basically, was tossed out with pills and another splint. Everyone, but that PA was very helpful, but I couldn't believe how I was treated, so thank you for my referral to the REAL specialists that can look at my injury, but this is my last time going to Summerville Medical for anything. I'd rather drive to East Cooper! That's what I get for dealing with Trident!!!

horrible customer relations &predjudice

I've never experienced such unprofessional and uneducated nurses and medical staff. Don't go here for any type of medical care. During my 1st day of stay my nurse assigned refused to care for me. Another nurse had to perform my care and admitted to me she was prejudice.I had an emergency situation occured and needed the on call speciality rep to come in. The on-call attendant ignored all the calls the nurses had made. Due to my illness I required certain detailed care certain staff members blunty refused my care in my face in front of supervisors. Despite my concerns and request just to receive proper healthcare I was discharge within 24hrs because they have untrained health professionals with titles. It's sad that they're in business and getting away with being rude and disrespectful to the patients.

I was in an auto accident and ...

I was in an auto accident and taken by ambulance to the Summerville Medical Center. I was treated with the greatest care by the emergency room staff. They were friendly, capable and professional. I was eventually admitted to the hospital for 24 hour observation and the nurses and doctors there also provided outstanding care. I am proud to have such a medical facility in my neighborhood.

Horrific!

My two year old nephew went in with a life threatening disease and the said to give him tylenol and go home. He was in horrible condition we had to go to musc to get treatment in the nick of time. From that and other experiences i' ll tell you to stay away from there. They are a death trap they don't give two winks about patients and they are flat out rude! If you don't believe me call their phone number and see how the receptionist speaks to you. Do yourself a favor and male the trip to MUSC.

They are rude and dis-honest

my husband was admited during the night for complications. I called and alled them to speak to him. they would answer the phone and tell me he was un avaliable and then i'd call off a different number and said i was an attorney an they would put me through. one of the nurses caught a real nasty attitude when I came and asked to see him they said he's unavaliable. When I confronted her about lying and said i was the attorney she siad well He's not able to have any visitors. I asked for head of nursing staff and she told me I could go back. The nurse did not want to do her job. If you don't want to work with people and help them then the medical field is not the place to be working at. I dont recomend going there nor alow any family member to go there.

Terrible Experience

From the moment we walked into this facility we were unimpressed. The staff: not friendly, not professional. We came in as a precautionary. No tests or checks were performed (not even blood pressure or heartrate) and yet we still incurred a charge of nearly $1000 for the mere minutes we spent here. Absolutely appalling! I will do anything short of performing open-heart-surgery on myself to ensure I never have to step foot in this facility again. What a racket!
