Great Salon! Im not sure which Salon 44 the other negative reviews are talking about but it is certainly not the Salon 44 on Maple St in Summit. I have been going to Salon 44 for nearly twenty years. I started going when I needed a cut for my sister's wedding. My hair was damaged from over styling and a bad perm done at another salon. Tony transformed my hair into a healthy, stylish cut. I was thrilled with all the compliments I received and the pictures looked great. I have tried several of the stylists and they are all excellent. They listen to you and they have the skills and knowledge to execute all of the current styles and trends.I never felt uncomfortable using another stylist, there is a sign right in the salon that encourages you to try any stylist you want. Its an upscale salon with a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere, a rare find in NJ. I always come out feeling like a million dollars!

I also took my boys to the kids salon and the staff was patient and friendly. The boys loved the atmosphere.

The salon could use a little updating, but it's still a nice enough salon for kids. We had taken my son to my own hair salon for his first cut and that did not work at all. The ladies were nice enough but he wouldn't sit still (at all) and they had no experience cutting hair on kids that small (he was under a year old at the time). So I went in search for a kids salon and ended up here. They have the cars, firetrucks etc. seats so the kids have that as a distraction and they each have an individual TV that they can put their favorite videotape in. In 2009 DVDs would be an improvement (who still has videos) but it still helps. The hair dressers have been uniformly nice, patient and competent and my son is now 18 months old and has had about 3 haircuts there so far, all of which turned out great. I will keep going back. Only downside - you have to pay cash.
