Provided by YP.comWe took our pregnant lab in for an emergency c section with one live puppy left to deliver. At the time we arrived the puppies heart beat was strong and alive. We were told the the surgery would take an hour. But they had to let the tech have lunch first. Lunch over an emergency really. This is an emergency your lunch could have waited. Also they should be fully staffed to take on emergency like they say 24 hour emergency hospital. What should have taken 1 hour took over 5 and the loss of our puppy. Then we were told that the doctor stuck her finger through our girls utruis and they could not repair it so she had to be spayed. She WAS our breeding dog and they took this away from us. We lost our puppy and our RIGHTS to breed. This is not a place I would ever go to.

Provided by YP.comI am so sorry the person gave a negative review to Sumner Veterinary Clinic in 2013. I have been using this clinic for over five years on a regular basis for boarding my dog when I am out of town. Their service is superb. The staff is friendly, helpful and patient with both the dogs and their owners. Please don't let one person's review prevent you from using their service.

Provided by YP.comI am sorry am I buying a car or trying to care for my animal?
Our dog had emergency surgery last night at another location but was transferred to Sumner for overnight observation. After waiting in the "private" room for 20 minutes the Dr. finally came in only to present us with a post op bill that cost more then what the initial EMERGENCY surgery did!
We asked for an overnight quote only which ended being still almost as much as the surgery but what are we to do when they are the only ones in town and our dog needs post op care. Dr. then continued to tell us all the things that could go wrong...I understand things can happen but go easy on people that are obviously in shock over the day that they had already! To top it off, the Dr says we need to place a deposit..ok great...we are thinking maybe half? NO! They want the entire amount of their "LOW" end estimate!
Will never use this est. again...will drive all the way to Tacoma if I have to! I had been told in the past that money talks here and that was made abundantly clear last night. Guess monopoly wins, thankfully we moved our dog back to the other hospital for observation today and she is doing great thanks to them.

My chihuahua's got into to trash and I caught one with mouth full of a 1/4 of of a very large very green hot dog. The other looked just as guilty. I knew what needed to be done just not the how or how much frantically calling number after number poison control, animal control and vets getting no where without $$$$$.! then i dialed 253 501 4415 and soon as i told them the problem ask what to give & how much. they gave me the answers and for the next 20 mins took several calls and never once were they anything but kind, patience , compassionate, quick and efficient . oh did I say patience. To the staff working the night of march 20th around 8:45 9:00 pm I thank you so much for all your help. Appreciate how prompt and honest and patient you all were and most of all that you gave me the information necessary without the whole run around of $$$$$. Thank you ! God Bless from Bean & Buddy & Myself

If you don't mind paying absolutely top dollar, this is a fine vet. They've been gentle and thorough with my pets. I wish the vet had been more honest with me about the prognosis before my dog died. Putting her down would have been better than the acute suffering she had after the doctor sent us home. She died within a day and a half of visiting the vet. Despite thier claim of 24-hour emergency service, nobody ever called me back after I left multiple messages both in and out of their regular office hours. The dog ended up dying at home before they ever got back with me.I had a cat that had emergency surgury. There's no question the vets here saved her life - though it cost a small fortune. My only real issue with them is the luxury price tag.

Do you want to be ripped off? Go to Sumner Vet. I have been a customer for 10+ years because of convenient location, nice staff and good care, but have had enough. They take advantage of customers and are dishonest in their calls about updating on cost. No matter what you sign or what they call to update, you will hit the higher cost. And they will call mutiple family members with costs and not explain it is additional on top of other costs. Since Sumner Vet moved to the new larger facility their business mission seems to be "charge the customer as much as possible!" or "never charge under max quote - if you're under....add things to the bill!" We have had 6 dogs through this vet and received multiple un-necessary recommendations to for procedures and surgeries since they moved. What inspires me to actually make a comment now is their dis-honesty in a recent emergency situation. While I cannot complain about the care becasue the vets and staff are nice and seem competent, I truly belie

My husband and I recently had to bring our dog into the emergency clinic because of some bizarre behavior (it turned out she had gotten into something toxic while we were down at the river that day). They were immediately kind and concerned and went into action right away. They presented the less expensive option right alongside the more expensive one with the understanding that financially we may not be able to follow their recommended treatment plan. We did end up having her there for about 24 hours before we felt that she was out of the danger zone. They were very understanding about our numerous visits and calls to check in on her. Even her "uncle" with his dog "cousin Belle" came to visit her and were welcomed and treated very well. The entire staff - doctors, assistants and receptionists were caring and sympathetic. I was so grateful to have them there during this emergency. We will continue to bring our girl to Sumner Vet Clinic.

Caring doctors. Had a 5 year old cat go into chronic heart failure from an undiagnosed enlarged heart. Happened on way out of town to get married. They were so helpful and when she went into heart failure a month and half later and we made the difficult decision to put her to sleep they very supportive and made the process as easy as they could. Would recommend them to anyone.

We had to bring our 14-year-old flat-coated-retriever when he collapsed a week ago and subsequently died. It was after hours, so our regular vet was closed. When we called Sumner Veterinary Hospital, they were quick to respond, helpful and when we brought him in, kept someone with him as he was panting and confused. They gave us professional opinions in a matter of minutes, and helped ease our sorrow as we decided to euthanize our beloved pet of 14 years. We felt their sympathy as we left; every employee was kind and understanding. recommend them highly.
