The Farmers Telephone Cooperative, founded in 1951, is a local, multi-faceted telecommunications company that is headquartered in Kingstree, S.C. It serves more than 60,000 customers within a coverage area of 3000 miles. It provides services to businesses and residents in the South Carolina counties of Williamsburg, Lee, Sumter, Clarendon and Florence. A veteran in the telephone industry, the Farmers Telephone Cooperative is the 3rd largest telephone cooperative in the United States. Two affiliate corporations fall under FTC's umbrella; namely, FTC Communications (with two divisions, Farmers Long Distance and FTC Wireless), and FTC Diversified Services. For more than 50 years, Farmers Telephone Cooperative has provided a communications system to connect rural residents to their urban and industrialized neighbors.
