The residents are HAPPY!!! The staff KNOWS EVERYONE!!! Warm atmosphere... comfortable without being "too fancy"... not "uppity" or pretentious... My sister-in-law is a "good ole girl from Kansas" and fit right in!

I do not have a loved one at this or any other facility but if I had to put a loved one in a place away from our family then I would without hesitation feel comfortable placing my loved one in the care of Stephen Barrineau and his staff. I have spent the better part of two full days in this facility ten days apart, talking with, interacting with and working with the staff and I am impressed with each of them. Each individual I have met has been warm, friendly, professional and above all caring of the residents and of each other. The residents appear to be very happy at Northwoods and the staff genuinely seem to care about each person there. I watched and listened as residents spoke to and joked around with the staff and vice versa. Everyone on the staff seems to accept that what they are doing is a much needed ministry. There is no pretense around here, no fancy job titles. the idea is if it needs doing and you are available then do it. Everyone pitches in to get the job of caring for these vulnerable adults done and done well. And, I for one place the credit for this right at the top with Stephen Barrineau who keeps the wheels turning and finds the money to keep the lights on. I just want to let the folks who need help for their loved ones as well as the citizens of Sumter know that they can be proud of having fellow citizens like Stephen Barrineau and the staff of Northwoods.
