When George and Arthur Trachte left the family's Watertown, Wis., farm in 1901, they set up a small furnace and tin shop in Madison, Wis. Within a few years, the brothers had patented a steel-rolling machine to help manufacture what had become their primary product line - water tanks. The rolling machine corrugated steel into various forms and ultimately produced tanks able to withstand tremendous water pressure. This machine was the forerunner of Trachte's present-day roll formers. Trachte Building Systems, a light steel manufacturer that supplies pre-engineered building systems and related services, offers self-storage systems that are precision engineered. They come in a variety of colors and are supported by a warranty program. Products include low-profile, multi-story, variable roof pitch, Create-A-Space partition, and corridor and block perimeter self-storage systems, plus micro storage buildings. Company subsidiaries include Trac-Rite Door, a manufacturer of steel roll-up doors; Fire Facilities, a manufacturer of steel fire training towers; and Tactical Training Systems, a manufacturer of steel tactical training towers.
