I was in a rush to drop off an RMA--Amazon shipped the wrong thing--and the bored-looking clerk said 'just drop it by that pile of boxes' and didn't offer to scan it or give me a receipt. I was in such a rush I figured 'what the heck'. My mistake. Cost me $20 when Amazon charged me for the returned item they never got.
