Established in 1967, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation plans, builds and maintains Wisconsin's network of state and interstate highway system. It additionally operates a transportation investment management division that undertakes long-term multimodal transportation planning, and guides the use of state and federal transportation funds based upon the research and data analysis of the state's transportation systems.
