My husband and I came down with sever upper respiratory infection about two weeks ago. We went to our PCP and found that it was viral and that we had to ride it out. A week and half later after 3 days of diarrhea and 2 days of vomiting, we were worried that he was getting dehydrated, as his skin was getting papery. We tried to go to our usual doctor, to see if he was dehydrated and if he need to go to er to get fluids. He has suffered from dehydration when sick twice in past and ended up having seizures. We were directed to Doctors Care, as we were told they had the ability to give IV fluids. Of course when we checked in and went through triage at Doctors Care we told them each step of the way that we were there for IV fluids and that he had had seizures and had to be transported via ambulance to er in the past. After waiting over 1 1/2 hrs we finally saw the PA. After examining and determining that indeed he was dehydrated the PA came back and said the Dr in charge said that there was no one on staff that had the ability to administer IV fluids to a dehydrated patient! What???? Who else but someone suffering from dehydration would need IV fluids? They gave us option for ketone test and anti nausea medication and for my husband to go home and try to drink water to re hydrate. After sitting and pondering I confronted the PA that this made no sense and I would be reporting this publicly and to appropriate agencies. I stated I could not believe a place with a DR an 2 PA had no one that could administer IV fluids when they are supposed to be able to handle this procedure. She came back after speaking with the Dr again, and apologized that the Dr in charge stated that he did not feel it was safe for us to have procedure done there as they had no IV pump and the phlebotomist had just graduated recently and didn't have the experience! What a joke! Funny the hospital didn't use a pump. Gravity worked fine there!

PLEASE DO NOT GONTO DOCTORS CARE! They are a rip off and they DO NOT state their prices anywhere and slam you with a bill. It is $240 for a walk in visit and their prices are out of control. Insurance does not cover most of it since it is an urgent care. I was billed $600 for an appointment! As a working professional, this is murder. Please be aware of the scam.
