Sykesville Tae Kwon Do is a fabulous, family friendly martial arts studio! One of my children took lessons for 10 years, and received his black belt. My other child is currently taking classes, and on his way to his black belt. Owners/staff are very supportive of their students and it's obvious that they care about them greatly. Students leave Sykesville Tae Kwon Do as confident and respectful individuals.

Rules for advancement are clearly stated in the student handbook that all receive, and pricing is the same across the board, depending on which type of membership you choose, thus the difference in contracts. I found it to be pretty straight forward.

I would not recommend. After signing up basically the entire family to every program they offer and attending for over one year, husband first became discouraged with inconsistencies and lack of structure. Kids then became frustrated with owner's giving preferential treatment to certain customers as far as belt test rules and promotions. I stopped liking after witnessing owner sit in office during summer camp while summer camp kids were off to tend to themselves then about 5 minutes before parents came to pick them up, she came out, sat on floor with them, and pretended to have an engaging game going. After paying fees in advance (huge mistake), we were told we cannot get a penny back. We lost over $1,000!

I would like to share my feelings about Sykesville Tae Kwon Do Academy. I would like to begin by saying that the staff, Master Bun Huor, Ms. Kelly Patten, and Mr. Ralf Rogall in particular, are truly amazing. Not only as instructors, but people as well. They are considerate and patient of others. They have taken my son and molded him into a self-confident, respectful, and more positive individual. He has learned self control, and how to be assertive when needed. He was not confident when playing lacrosse, but as his skill in sparring has increased, it has helped him go forward not only in sports but in life. I feel that this is the best investment in my son’s life that I could possibly have made. The lessons he’s learned in tae kwon do will help him not only now by always. I am truly grateful for all the help and patience that he has gotten over the last five years. We are truly blessed in finding Sykesville Tae Kwon Do Academy.
