The County of Los Angeles Central Juvenile Hall is one of the oldest juvenile hall facilities operated by the Los Angeles County in California. Established in 1912 as the first juvenile detention facility, it has more than 20 buildings. The facility maintains various living units, infirmaries, school buildings, gyms and mechanical areas, as well as operates a chapel and kitchen. It has a board of corrections-rated capacity of over 420 beds. The County of Los Angeles Central Juvenile Hall receives funding from Central Juvenile Hall Federal Emergency Management Agency to renovate its facilities damaged in natural calamities. Its overall physical condition is determined by the probation department that offers facility expansion options.
