Since its founding in 1993, the Smoky Mountain Brass Quintet has performed throughout the United States in venues such as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, as well as internationally with tours of Russia, the United Kingdom, and China.

The Smoky Mountain Brass Quintet performs a wide variety of music ranging from Early Renaissance to Jazz. The group dedicates time to the education of young musicians and serves as Quintet in Residence at Western Carolina University.  Whether through mini-residencies, master-classes or school shows, members of the Smoky Mountain Brass Quintet use their talents to inspire tomorrow’s musician.  

Among its many community service performances, the Smoky Mountain Brass Quintet has helped to raise money for the new public library, for the local arts council, and for the Jackson County band program.  Additionally, SMBQ supports Relay For Life, and the Alzheimer's Association.
