Syosset Central School District serves more than 6,000 students in grades kindergarten through 12 through over nine elementary, middle and high schools. Its secondary schools include the H.B. Thompson Middle School, South Woods Middle School and Syosset High School. Children begin the study of world languages in kindergarten at all Syosset s elementary schools. Various languages are offered to students, such as Russian, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Latin and American Sign Language. Its peer leadership programs are offered to middle and high school students during school orientation and throughout the year to deal with various situations. Computer technology is an important instructional curriculum at all levels of learning. Every elementary classroom has its own computers, and each school has a library media center in which all classes have access to computers at the same time. The school district is located in Syosset, N.Y.
