Provided by YP.comI am from out of state and needed new tires. Went in to get a price. Was told the price of the tired plus 16.99 per tire and tax. Was not told that I would be charged an extra 6.99 / tire for labor and was not told that I would be charged $80 for an alignment. On my way home, my tire light came on. 2 of the new tires were over inflated by 7psi.

Provided by YP.comWORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! I called first to make sure that they had a tire in stock that would work with my car. It all started out okay I get there and they gave me a time estimate. Sounds fine. Until they used the air gun to try and loosen my wheel lock instead of using a breaker bar to loosen it first. They snapped my wheel lock key and embedded the key in the grooves of the wheel lock. So now the mechanic tried to chisel out the lock and damaged my rim. I spent 3.5 hours there for nothing. Even then I said no problem to Craig Scott the manager on duty who told me he would replace my wheel locks and save me $10.00 for the tire. I declined and said that I would not come back to have work done there, and that I just wanted my wheel locks replace he agreed.
Here is where it gets interesting. I called the next day while at my local BMW dealership to have the problem that Mavis created rectified. I spoke to Sean the store manager of Mavis, I explained to him that I am reasonable and I have no interest in getting anyone in trouble, nor do I want and compensation for my damaged rim or the 3.5 hours spent there. I just asked him to replace my wheel locks since they broke the key. He proceeded to tell me that It was not the fault of his staff. He said and I quote "This was the first time you used our service and we made no mistakes, I spoke to the technician and the lugs were too tight and that I should go back to the people who tightened them in the first place and I should get reimbursed by them" , he also stated, "A lot times most guys are too lazy to tighten with a torque wrench and so they probably over tighten them". So Sean if that is the case why does your shop use a air gun to loosen a wheel lock when you should be loosening a wheel lock by hand first. Sounds like your speaking from experience when it comes to lazy! So I spoke to the BMW and the technician they told me that, that is not possible since this rim had never had a tire replaced, It still has the factory weights in it which means that there was never a tire replace on this side, so that would mean that BMW as a factory did not tighten them to specs.
Run don't walk from Mavis Discount Tire in Syosset, NY, not only will they waste your time, and damage your wheels and say it wasn't their fault, but they will try to up sell on a $6.99 valve gasket that they say has to be replaced every time a tire is replaced. Also Sean the manager will double talk you even if Craig the asst manager tells you something else. I feel bad for Craig that he has to work for a guy like that!!! Only go to Mavis Discount Tire in Syosset, NY if you have time and money to waste!!!!

Provided by YP.comOn October 10, 2014 I had gone to your Mavis location at 261 Jericho Turnpike, Syosset, NY. I had asked to get an alignment on my 2001 Jeep Cherokee. I was told it would take approximately 20-30 minutes. About and hour and a half later, I was told my Jeep was finally ready. As I left the shop I was notching my steering wheel was still miss aligned, but I gave the shop the benefit of the doubt as I am driving on 35x12.5 wide tires. Later on that night I noticed my steering was completely out of order, it was pulling all over the road and I immediately stopped to check my front-end. I had noticed my track bar was dangling down. Now, the track bar is fasted with a flanged end nut that basically holds your axel in from walking out in front of the vehicle. My bolt was gone, nowhere to be found. The likely hood of this happening is slim to none. I was cautious to note that there was a lot of other poor quality work on my front-end after more inspection. I had anti-seize all over my tie-rod, crush pit, drag link; it was basically painted on, serving absolutely no purpose but a clear mess.
On October 12, I decided to go back down to Mavis and demand I have my truck repaired back to its standards. Instead of helping the cause, I was basically ignored and decided to take matters into my own hands. I walked up the block to Home Depot, purchased a Grade 8 3/5 bolt to replace the missing one in the Mavis parking lot with absolutely no help. Its shocking to me that Mavis would let this kind of act happen without any further investigation, or customer service to better help the situation. Mavis is lucky that I was not involved in an accident, I was able to address the problem myself before it got any worse. Furthermore, the manager at Mavis was going to let me drive my vehicle home not knowing weather or not I had fixed the issues or not. Overall, I am completely disgusted and terrified that a shop of such low standards is still in business. If the Mavis was not comfortable working on my truck, or was unfamiliar with the lift kit I had installed they should of made it clear from the start instead of jeopardizing my safety.

Provided by YP.comHORRENDOUS SERVICE! STAY AWAY! I took my car there to get new tires. They put the new tires on but said that the car also needed new front struts, sway bar links, and rear shocks. UNFORTUNATELY, I had them go ahead and do the work they claimed needed to be done. After $1,500 worth of work the front end made a horrible knocking sound since the day I drove it out of there. I took it back and they said that they couldn’t find anything wrong. As the knocking in the front end persisted I decided to take it to ford. Ford found that the front left strut that Mavis installed was missing pieces and that the sway bar links didn’t appear to be replaced at all (old and rusty) and they were extremely loose. After weeks of driving around in a dangerous car and being inconvenienced with taking it in to different service centers, Mavis only offer “to bring the car in and we’ll have a look”. I offered to bring in the old sway bar links they supposedly replaced and wanted a refund. I never want Mavis touching my car again. They offered no refund. Taking them to small claims court.
