Established in 1913, the North Syracuse Fire Department provides fire, rescue and emergency medical services. It operates a training division that offers educational classes in rappelling, hazardous material response and water rescue. The department houses fire trucks, ambulances, engines, rescue vans and cars. The North Syracuse Fire Department has a fireman s association that is responsible for fire training and public education, as well as has a physical fitness center for the firefighters and sports teams. It supports the Explorer Post, which is a worksite-based program for youths between the ages of 14 and 20. The Department is located in North Syracuse, N.Y.
