We are a neighborhood business and have been part of the Pierce County community since 1978. Chris Smith, owner of Able Remodeling, and his staff includes two sales/designers, a project manager and several lead carpenters. We established ourselves as a high quality, residential remodeling contractor in 1978 and continue to specialize in the residential remodeling business to this day. Our work is in the metropolitan Pierce County area where we have completed over 1100 projects.We have the added benefit of being a design/build firm. This means that we are responsible for constructing the designs we create. The advantage to you is, Able Remodeling, as a General Contractor, is thoroughly familiar with construction costs. Therefore, we can design to your budget.

The previous review could not be farther from the truth. My experience is the opposite --creative, open to working with you and respectful of you, extremely knowledgeable, no detail is too small to be addressed. They are awesome.

The best word I can use is "LIAR". Do not believe the BS you will be told.

Grain of Salt

This review might not be fair, as we ended up canceling our contract with Able before the project started (but after a down payment). In the end, we estimate that we saved about $60k doing it ourselves (with sub contractors). It seems that every contractor has a style and every remodel they do looks a lot like others they've already done. We felt like the design goals we were conveying weren't reaching Able and we wanted our kitchen to look different from their other work. But each step of the design phase seemed to cost more, as we simultaneously got less. This is fairly normal, but our situation had some really big gaps in what we wanted versus what they were bidding - for example: we wanted specialized tile, they bid Home Depot tile. After several iterations, we decided to go it alone. ### ###This is not to say that Able does bad work. I don't think we'd have been happy with any general contractor . Able was our choice from a fairly thorough vetting process.
