Rude, upsetting. If he was the last coin ace on the planet, I would shop on Mars!

i went there with the hopes of getting info on some coins I inherited. Apparently, he was having a tough day and was rude. He wouldn't even stop and look at my coins. Suggested I look on the Internet and go on eBay for information. He must have been extremely busy, having just come back from lunch an hour after opening and I was the only person in the store. I will go out of my way to NOT SHOP there. I would rather throw my stuff away than deal with him. This was my first experience in a coin shop. I hope this is not typical. A lady over heard my conversation with him and suggested West Seattle Coin. that is 60 miles round trip away. Well worth it if I don't have to deal with this schmuck! I think he may be writing his own reviews. They are full of lies. I wish there was an unsatisfied button. Disappointed just doesn't even come close to the humiliation and embarrassment I felt today.

My Favorite Coin Shop

Last year I decided to stop in to the Freight House Square in downtown tacoma after getting 3 other offers for my rather large coin collection. I have been collecting/investing for over 30 years and use to have a great time collecting. I decided to join a grading company's coin club and soon sent off most of my better coins to have graded. Upon receiving my coins back , 63 of almost 100 coins were returned ungraded due to cleaning, damage, artificial toning, not authentic, etc.

I had been taken for all these years by coin dealers I thought of as friends, or at the very least as people I thought I could trust.

I was fed up, and very angry...especially when I tried to get refunds or trade in values on these altered coins and was met with every excuse in the book as to why I could not get a refund. I wanted nothing more to do with coins, precious metals, or collecting and decided to get rid of "all the lies" and to rid myself of all the ...now bad memories.

I soon found out that my prized collection was not so special any longer. The same people that sold me my special collectables were now offering to buy them back for less than the silver and gold value. There was no way I was going to be taken again, now that I wanted to sell, so I packed it all up and was simply going to store it in the attic.

And I would have done so until I met the man at the coin chop in the Freight House Square. I brought in a couple of small boxes of coins and told him my story. He agreed to open early the next morning to give me a couple of hours to go through my whole collection. He actually spent 3 hours going through everything I owned ( and even opened an hour late because of the time it took), and gave me an honest offer. But his best offer was his advice. First of all he beat my best offer by almost 35%, but what he told me was that he wanted to buy my collection, but that in all honesty he felt that it was not the time to sell. He felt that if I waited to sell that the market would change and I would be able to perhaps recoop all of my lost investment and perhaps even make a profit. I was too unsure (and un-trusting) so he talked me into selling items he felt would not go up in value, and convinced me into holding the items he felt were sure to go up. I left with my cash and the idea to hold on to everything to store in my attic.

Well last week I got a phone call from the coin guy and he asked if I still had the collection because he felt it was a good time to sell....and he explained why (too long of a story).

Yesterday I sold it all...and I was very happy. Finally a coin dealer who told me the truth.

I could keep going on about the honesty and integrity of the American Rare Coin Shop guy but I think you get my point. And even for all the work and time he put into going through my collection, he never even charged me anything for the appraisal and I even got a free breakfast and a coffee out of him too.

People like this are hard to come by and need to be rewarded for helping others. And that is why I did not sell him my 1934 $500.00 Bill. I am going out to buy a thank you card and will be enclosing my note so that I may gift it to him for his collection.. It is the least I can do for him since his advice and lack of greed made me over $42,000.00 more than what I was offered the last time.

And the best part of it all is that I am now hooked on coin collecting again.......even though there is only 1 coin shop I will do business with.

Yes, I will see you there every Sunday. I will be working on a US Type Set...and loving it.

Take it from me....If you want an honest experience without all the lies and half truths then I suggest you visit the coin shop at the freight house square in Tacoma. I don't know the address but it is on the same street as is the Tacoma Dome and is in a 2-3 story green building that is about 3 blocks long.

Coin Collectors Paradise

The owner is also a collector and takes the time to interact with his fellow collector customers. No question is a dumb question with him. He takes the time to explain everything and answer all of my questions without making me feel stupid. He allowed me to look in the price guides he uses when he was buying my collection. On the common items I was able to get 85% of the value and on my better coins I received 90-95% of the catalog prices. He even gave me the full catalog price on 3 of my coins. He paid me over the current "spot Prices" for all of my gold and silver bullion pieces. And even though silver was only $18 an ounce I got $1.50 more than the New York Exchange Prices. I even sold all of my scrap gold to this coin shop because I was quoted over 3 times the amount that I was offered at the mall. I am so glad I heard about this coin shop. It is definately a well kept secret that is rapidly getting out and is being noticed. Also even though I wasn't in the market to buy today I
