The Pierce County Library System offers microfilm and hard copies of newspaper articles and magazines from national and regional publications for the residents of the community. The library system has more than 15 branches. Pierce County Library System s Friends of the Library works to increase community interest and involvement in the library system through programs, fundraisers and volunteer activities. Its libraries provide literacy services through a mobile family literacy unit. The Pierce County Library System offers books, magazines, audiotapes, video cassettes, compact discs, DVDs, e-books, government documents and databases. In addition, it offers computers for word processing and accessing the Internet. The library arranges various programs for children, families, teenagers and youths.
