Provided by YPmobileThe education received is mediocre and for a private school, I have many concerns: hiring new teachers right out of school, tenure-like positions for teachers who have been at the school for years without performance measures, un-engaged educators, and large class sizes, an unexpected finding at a private school. Many people send their children to Kumon to augment their educational experience at St. Charles. Indeed, the junior high math curriculum is not on par with public schools, only going to Algebra I for 8th grade. The reviewer is correct about the division between students and parents. By no means is it across the board, but it is there and prominent, so hard to ignore. The tuition may seem low, but there are hidden costs that are not factored into the published tuition so proceed with caution. All schools have issues and we are not so naive to think that these issues do not occur in other private and public schools. But if we had to do it again, we would not have chosen St Charles knowing what we know now. There are great things about the school--the uniforms, the before and after school clubs/activities, the band program, to name a few, but for the cost of a student to attend, especially at the rate for non-Catholic families, the education is lackluster.
