Welcome To Our Website! Tacoma Trains & Hobbies TACOMA TRAINS & HOBBIES is a brick and mortar retail store located in the historic PROCTOR DISTRICT of Tacoma, Washington. Our business began in 1985 as a N SCALE model train mail order business with an international customer base. Wishing to better serve our immediate model railroad community , we opened a retail store in 1992 at Freighthouse Square in Tacoma. The business grew quickly requiring more space and we were fortunate to relocate to the Proctor District in 1994. The model train departments were expanded ( about 80 % of our business) and we added plastic models, rockets, Thomas The Tank Engine, Pinewood Derby and other hobby items. We strive to offer friendly and knowledgeable service , while offering quality products. Thank you for visiting our website and we look forward to seeing you at our store. very rude

I called the store to ask if they had any idea what some garbage pail kids might be worth. I very politely asked "I have a bunch of the extra big sized garbage pail kids. Do you know what the might be worth? " . No! He answered. He sounding very annoyed. I thought maybe I'm just being sensitive. So I again asked "well do you know anywhere that I could take em?". No! He said again. This time worse than first no. It was painfully obvious he was upset and anoyed that I would even ask a follow up question. He was rude . I always thought that mean and rude people working at music and toy stores was a stereotype. Maybe not. At least not at this place. I wouldn't take my children in this place.

I have been in here several times with my kids to buy rock tumbling supplies and to look at trains. I had decided to buy an O gauge set and asked why they stocked so many of one brand. Better quality, etc? "we like them" was the most in depth answer I could get. No eye contact, looked angry, and apparently doesn't need the considerable cash I was going to spend locally. I can get poor service online without the attitude. Being new to the hobby I could have used some help.
