Established in 1992, the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is a public agency that supports Florida's agricultural economy. It ensures the safety of food and other consumer products through inspection and testing programs. The agency protects consumers from unfair and deceptive business practices and provides consumer information. Located in Tallahassee, Fla., the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services maintains plant industry, marketing and development, agricultural environmental services, dairy industry, food safety, fruit and vegetables, consumer services, forestry, animal industry, aquaculture and licensing divisions.
